This movie looks really interesting.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhBMjyJ4gOQ

What I think happens is aliens have landed on Earth accidently and the government has them under govenment control. I think they came here in peace, they meant no harm and just wanted to return home. Our government didnt let them and something goes wrong and the aliens are pissed off and they just eff our sh*t up.

There's a new trailer out w/ more scenes & action. The special effects look pretty good & the story seems solid from the glimpse here. I'm looking forward to this one!

He said a "good" alien movie, so that disqualifies Transformers! laugh.gif

That looks 'effing cool...
HighLanderZ
Ah, & the cool viral videos are coming out! I enjoy these as they flesh out the back story. It suggests to me that the film makers actually gave some thought to the plot! smile.gif

haha I knew that was coming.

It all depends on your definition of good. I don't go into movies looking to love or hate them, I go for the entertainment. Sure Transformers had some holes and was a bit long, but I was entertained by it and that's all that matters to me. I'll leave the criticizing to people who have nothing better to do than waste time arguing over the finer points of a movie.

Actually, I haven't seen Transformers 2. I'll probably see it on DVD just for the special effects. I can't sit through a 2 hour plus movie that has no actual plot. I also want to simply be entertained, but I can wait to see it from what I've read. I mean, robot heaven??? rolleyes.gif

I saw the first Transformers on DVD also just for the special effects. I liked the CGI, but I was not entertained. The "plot" & attempts at comedy made me want to punch myself in the head! laugh.gif
miltonj81

Hey, you don't see Transformers for the plot! laugh.gif

This movie certainly looks to be a few steps above Independence Day...ugh, that movie still makes me sick...

I ... cannot ... wait! smile.gif

i was happy to see peter jackson get the (much deserved) attention and popularity that came along with directing 'lord of the rings' and 'king kong'...but it's SO nice to see him get a bit closer to his true movie roots with 'district 9'.

i grew up watching and worshiping his early alien/zombie gorefests like 'bad taste', 'dead alive' and 'meet the feebles'. he's always been an extremely creative director, and i would encourage anyone who likes this type of movie to check out his early flicks too.

crack a beer and enjoy...

I hope you guys all realize that Peter Jackson did not direct this movie

you're right...he produced the film through his own "wingnut productions" company.

as far as i'm concerned, if jackson puts his seal of approval on a movie like this...odds are it will be great.

i'm just glad he's getting away from hobbits for a while, and getting back to his roots.
The Darcmenace
Im ganna watch this movie later tonight...Can not freakin wait

The Darcmenace
Best movie of the year

Innovative, original, awesome. The best movie of the year so far and I dont see anything beating it. Action packed, story is very well done, a lot of drama, rather liked how you felt about all characters (good and bad), it was just amazing

If anyone comes back and says they dont like this movie, I will be shocked

Below is a link to reviews. Not that anyone should care about the opinions of critics, BUT I think reviews are important just to learn basic info about a film. For ex., I hate it when people walk into a film w/ complete ignorance then complain, "I didn't know it would be sooo dark." Hey, do some research before you lay your money down!

Damn the critics freaking love this movie.

Just saw it. Freaking loved it. Awesome on so many levels. Not directed by Jackson, but the protagonist is very Jackson-esque. It's tops for me so far in '09.

I'm surprised that you guys liked it so much. I liked it as well but maybe you guys hyped it a little much for me, because I was actually abit let down. I was really surprised at all the attempts at humor, and the main actor reminded me of a mix between Steve Carell and Borat. But I'll admit I had some good laughs every time someone got shot with that alien gun. Which brings me to another thing I wasn't expecting, all that action. I really wasn't expecting it to be an action movie at all, but that's kind of what it turned into.

Overall I did like the movie though and I'd give it probably a 7 out of 10.
grimsfield
id give a solid 8 out of 10, i liked it a lot.
Scruffy
Glad to hear that it's getting good reviews, I'm going to see it tonight.

I liked it, didn't think it was the best movie I've seen this year or anything. But the plot was very original, which I really appreciated.

worth the $10 for me

I liked it as well though it did start off very slow my tastes but in a movie like this u hafta kinda expect that cause they hafta build up the history of it. They did the same thing with Transformers and Spiderman. I totally see a sequel to this movie. And I totally see me seeing it. Im very hard on movies and I rather enjoyed this one.
miltonj81
Hearing/reading great things about it...two co-workers were talking about it this morning...in other news...JPUG lives?!

Just saw it

That's what Cloverfield was supposed to be!
JeterPimpedUrGF
I really enjoyed the last 40 minutes or so. Id recommend this movie for sure.

Couldn't agree more. The last 40 minutes were some pretty good non-michael bay action
The Man
I kept forgetting that like half of the movie was CGI. The lead actor was amazing given that most of his lines were just him standing alone in front of a green screen. I also heard that he ad-libbed a lot of it.

Just a really compelling (albeit pretty predictable) movie.

It is a bit gruesome at times. Just be ready.
Scruffy
Solid movie. Started off a bit slow, but that's why you buy popcorn. The last 45 minutes of this movie are absolutely awesome. One of the better movies that has come out this year.
johnnystick77
7.5/10

Liked
it, but didn't love it. It was definitely innovative and kept my attention. Some of it was a bit hard to watch at times, but i was probably being a sissy.

Will there be a sequel? Seems like there could be.
Van Buren Boys
Really good movie. I'd give it a 8 out of 10.
