"He was almost like Jacoby Ellsbury for me, a lefthanded leadoff hitter with the speed to make things happen," said a scout with a National League club. "He's a high-energy guy who just seems like he does everything right. Looking at what he did in High Desert, the way that park is friendly to hitters, I was skeptical. But seeing him here had me pretty excited. I can't think of any major leaguers who could run that time from home to first on a drag bunt."

I am not familiar with this kid at all. 20-years-old and hitting .341/.435/.483 this season in High A California League.

Anyone know much else?

Don't forget about his 33 stolen bases and 10 triples. The kid can flat out fly.
The Man
High BABIP and the Cali league inflates power, but I like the plate discipline, and there's no question he's got massive speed.

Seems like Desmond Jennings redux, which is a pretty amazing profile.

I could've sworn there was another (albeit small) thread on here about him, esp after his performance in the Futures Game.

He was arguably the most impressive, or at least the guy who stole the show, at the Futures game. Had a couple of hits, and flashed ridiculous speed getting out of the box towards first. Writers from Baseball America said scouts told them he was faster than Ichiro from home --> 1st. Also made some nice plays on the field. He's also legally deaf, which makes his story all the more interesting and nice to see.

I wonder how many CF/OF prospects the M's can have.

Considering Ichiro will probably play for another 7 years, there's not a lot of room in the OF with Gutierrez, Saunders, Ackley (whom they are projecting as a starting OF). And Ichiro not withstanding, those guys aren't exactly old.

Not to mention they're going to have to add a big veteran bat or two come next season and beyond, and you'd think that at least one of said vets would play an OF position (as the 3B free agent market coming up is pretty rough outside of Chone Figgins whom I doubt they'd get).

Granted, this kid is at least a few years out, but I can't imagine he's THAT far removed from getting a look at the big league level. Looks like the M's GM is going to have some decisions to make.

Don't forget Greg Halman.
