Full Version: Looking to shore up Midfield

Timmah!
I have way too many Forwards on my London Times club, and while I'd like to improve in the Midfield, it appears that they're a little too good to let go for what's available in Midfield at the current time.

I have six Midfielders (starting 4, including a Flex): Rory Delap, Tim Cahill, Frank Lampard, Simon Davies, Elano and Lucas Leiva

I have no idea how much Leiva is going to play (or even Elano, for that matter). I may have to switch from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3 until I can find something useful.

Here are my seemingly best options....anybody have any opinions? All of the guys I currently have qualify at Central Midfield, so I'm looking at the Wings, and would probably drop Heskey, who's generally good, but can't seem to crack the AV lineup, or Leiva:

Left Midfield (little bit):

Ryan Babel
Matthew Etherington
Charles N'Zogbia
Aaron Ramsey
Giovani dos Santos

Right Midfield (not much at all):

Valon Behrami
David Bentley (unfortunately, name value doesn't get you points)
Julien Faubert
Steven Reid

Any input would be helpful......

My input on the two Liverpool players:

Lucas Leiva: For some reason I don't understand, he got a lot of playing time last year. I haven't seen anything from him that has warranted this playing time. When healthy, Liverpool's midfield should look like Kuyt-Mascherano-Aquilani-Riera. However, if one goes down, it seems to me like Rafa really like Leiva and he might be one of the first guys slotted into the starting midfield.

Ryan Babel: I wouldn't take the risk on him just yet. To me, he has shown promise, and I much prefer him over Leiva. However, I don't think Rafa sees this the same way. Even if there are injuries, it seems to me as if Rafa would still prefer him to come off the bench as a change of pace type of guy. There have been transfer rumors surrounding him, and depending on how he does early in the season, I wouldn't be surprised to see him gone come January.

Thanks for the input......Aquilani is on Waivers, so I placed a claim, even if means replacing one CM for another. I'm 8th on the list, though, so there's a good chance I won't get him.

Stephen Hunt just got transferred to Hull, so if I can't get Aquilani, then I'll go after him.

Ok, but just in case you didn't know I think Aquilani is scheduled to miss the next month as he recovers.

Crap.....I didn't know that, and the BBC article I read when he was transferred didn't mention it.

Back to the drawing board.....
