Ive always felt Phil Jackson is overrated. Hard not to be successful with guys like Jordan and Pippen.......Shaq and Kobe.....Gasol n Kobe......Gasol is a big time player when it counts.......big time. He guided Spain to the title dont forget.

Do you do this on purpose? Why post this in a football thread when you list a soccer, baseball and basketball player.

You should probably follow your OWN advice of giving a reason too, not just listing players.

People say Jeter is overrated when he really isnt. He really is a throwback type player. Hes a great hitter who gives u alittle of everything else. He can beat u with the bat, the glove, a walk, a steal, triple, homer, double. There are so many facets of his game. He is as consistent as they come too.

Actually had this convo today with 1 of the better basketball trainers in the area... and he told me that he wouldnt consider Phil a great coach more of a better psychiatrist and handling ego's.... He's had the same assistant his whole career ... aka the creator of the Triangle offense.....


Sort of why Torre is overrated as a coach to me also....

Theres nothing overrated about Emmitt Smith nor Duncan. You can make a case for Torre. As a Yankee fan I love the guy but if im gonna give Phil a hard time than I can see doing the same on Torre. Ive always felt Ripken was overrated. Lebron isnt nor is Kobe. Brady as Ive said before is the Jeter of Football.....a very consistent gamer. Eli is vastly overrated. Big Ben I watched on Thurday and man I gotta give this guy credit....he puts the team before his stats. Id take him as my QB anyday of the week in real life.

Okay, explain Aikman to me, as well as Emmitt. I hated those cowboy teams, but boy did they produce. they wrecked everyone on their way.

smith the tail end of his career sucked and he held on to get that record, but besides that he has been totally amazing career.

If you don't remember what the Cowboys were the years pre Aikman and Smith becoming stars it was pretty ugly.

See, here I have a big issue here... Jeter is one of the best SS's of all time.... one of the best baseball players ever ... there is no way....

-He's real good hitter who has benefited extremely from hitting infront of really good sluggers/hitters throughout his career.... being a #2 hitter for the yankees is extremely beneficial for any hitter
-The guy has never been an elite fielder.... real good at times.... but never 1 of the best....
- Over the last 10 years he averages 4 triples a yr... so b/c off the ballpark which raises his HR total increases and Triples decrease... He is not a HR threat averages 17 a yr


Hey the facts are that he's a real good hitter... w/ real good instincts on the base paths... a solid glove... and consistent

He's a real good ball player who owes his life to the New York Yankee organization.

Beckham's salary isn't $50 million. He stands to make money based on increased ticket sales due to his name.

Pele did the same thing toward the end of his career and nobody would say he's overrated.

Though to be fair, Beckham was never really best known as being a great player. He was a pretty womanizer, good teammate, and did a couple things (e.g., dead balls) very well. But was never considered an elite player.

Beckham came here solely because of name value, and was paid (and given endorsement dollars - a big part of that deal) accordingly....I don't think anybody with a working knowledge of international soccer who would have suggested he was still one of the top players in the world. He wasn't even a candidate for the English National Team at the time; a huge part of the reason he wanted to go back to (and stay in) Europe was because it would keep his profile up high enough that he would be considered for a spot.

And yes, Eli is better than Rivers. Rivers had LT, Turner, Antionio Gates and Vincent jackson to work with, while playing in perfect weather conditions over half the year. Eli had Burres and , umm, well, Toomer I guess to throw the ball to in terrible conditions in a wind tunnel of a stadium. Put Eli in San Diego and the chargers are a better team.

Now I want you to tell me where the Cornerback that was covering Burress was on that play (think he was eating dirt) .... and also how many QB's would have been able to make that throw.....

This is a pretty meaningless point. As was mentioned, Does the fact that Trent Dilfer and Doug Williams have Super Bowl Rings mean they are better than Marino? No. Nor does Brady's 3 rings mean he's the best. This is a team sport. We're not talking about Federer.

How you have these people on your list I don't know...I need some reasons behind them, because I don't find them overrated AT all.

I will say this about Eli.....hes doing pretty well for himself for a guy who is ALWAYS being compared to others......his father (who he is better than), his brother (who is arguably one of the top 10 QBs ever to play in the league), and the 2004 draft class QBs (Big Ben & Rivers), which is going down as one of the better QB draft classes in league history. To act like the guy is completely terrible isn't doing him justice.

That said, considering the hype around him coming into the league, of course he was overrated. He isn't his brother and never will be. But the dude is a winner and considering who else the Giants have had at QB since I've been watching football, they could do a LOT worse.
