Alright fantasy nerds.....who's watching this show when it debuts? I've seen a couple commercials for it, and it looks like it has potential.

When's it on? I'll definitely check it out.

imdb has minimal information....they're saying it starts in November: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1480684/

I recognize a couple of names: Nadine Velasquez, who was Catalina on My Name Is Earl, and Paul Scheer, who had a brief recurring role on 30 Rock.

I believe it starts October 29th, according to the commercials on FX.

I see......the only thing I watch on FX is Damages, which isn't on right now, so I haven't seen any commercials for it.

It could be alright......may as well give it a shot!

No Always Sunny??? Killer!!!

Anyway I'll definitely give it a try. I'm guessing the show is mainly going to be about how these guys think of Fantasy Football in random situations they shouldn't be (ie Funeral, Hospital, etc. etc.). Not sure how long that can last. Here's to hopin...

comes out tommorow...kinda excited

First episode appropriately called 'The Draft'

I'll have to Tivo it with the World Series tomorrow, but I'm looking forward to it.
BigH
I'll give it a chance, at least for that Fantasy Genius character that I saw in the preview.

Epic timing fail - any true fantasy nerd is going to be watching the World Series over any show.

As soon as my fantasy season is over, baseball usually goes out the window for me.

Fantasy nerds= probably following NBA box scores like it's Christmas Eve with the new season started
Sports Fan= Watching World Series

Either way, they really lost a chance to get the show out to the two demographics that could make it take off. Only people that could have watched it and actually gotten a kick out of it would have been all the "fantasy widows" out there.

Going to DVR it. I hope it's good. Former writers of Seinfeld...
BETTAFISH
I watched it and dug it. I know we will probably enjoy it way more than the average Joe but I thought it was pretty funny. My gf (who doesn't play fantasy) was amused by it as well because I am a lot like those idiots when it comes to being fantasy obsessed heh. I think I heard it will only be 6 episodes long though. When he's pleading with the kid at the end about drafting Kellen Winslow I started dying.
Skylar112
I thought the show was hilarious.

The guy drafted Keyshawn Johnson haha.
hard1
whats crazy about it is that it is so accurate, i am in a league with buddies and someone usually pulls an andre like that...someone drafted ricky williams the retired year same with tiki and another year a guy took nugent second round...it also is filled with the i am too busy to plays but that almost always end up playing....
jimsorgi
I don't remember the exact quote, but...

"I drew number one! Heck yeah, I got Tim Brady!"

Yeah I heard that I damn near died from laughter.

This show is only pertinent to people who have played fantasy football otherwise it's not funny at all. I like it so far!
Gary
The biggest concern I had was that they only had 6 guys so I though it was going to just be a six team league which they addressed during the draft. Either way it wasn't that bad but it didn't blow me away either I'll still watch it every week though.
ironmike128
I liked this show alot and have set up the DVR to record the series. You are a true fantasy nerd if you can relate to any of these characters, which I most defintely can. In explaining this show to my wife, she quickly responded "it's the story of my life"! laugh.gif

I'm not sure who plans on watching the first show (or again), but I noticed a HUGE blunder on the draft board at the party. I believe it was round 5 or 6, somewhere around pick 4 or 5, Jacob Hester's name was there instead of Devin Hester.

I was doing the same thing - I think i said out loud "Ronnie Brown in the 4th??? Bullsh...."

This show is fantastic though. I think this board is probably home to many real life hotdog-licking "Oracles."
TheJRod2006
I think the show will have enough gags non-fantasy related (such as Taco's song at the birthday party and the pubic hair joint) to keep those people amused.

Good debut episode though.

"Larry Johnson in the 7th round. That's a good pick...in 2005"

I taped it, but the DVR ended way too early, I think. It was pretty much right after the whole Adrian Peterson traded for a 5 year sentence thing. I started taping right after It's Always Sunny (which went about 2 minutes long). But what you guys are talking about (they showed the draft???) seems like it was way more than 2 minutes of the show lost.

I was also curious what they were doing with 6 guys in a league.

They said a couple of the guys were on 'auto-pilot'.

Some guys were on auto draft and some were on the phone but they never made a actual appearance.

you ever had sex with a trophy?

I can't wait

it's so dumb it hilarious.

Anyone wondering how that winner of the league who is this chubby mediocre looking guy gets that hot ass blond? I couldn't help but to wonder throughout the whole show.

I'm pretty sure that was the first full-on, graphic rape scene in network TV history.

It was really uncomfortable.

It's cable (FX) and rated MA so I figure that plays into it...but yes, I was wondering the same thing. She can stick her finger in my ass anytime. Heck, I'd even pay. laugh.gif

Clips are on Hulu so i don't know why they wouldn't eventually put the full episode up.

From TV Guide: They'll re-air the pilot at 12:30AM on Nov 5.

On FX tomorrow at 10:30 PM.

It's also listed on On Demand of some cable providers.

I'll get around to watching it but from all that I have read about it I don't think I'll be too impressed. I was really disappointed with HBO's Eastbound and Down earlier this year in spite of the creative element involved and I'm getting the same sort of vibe from this.

Comes on at 10:30PM PST on Thursdays. Just caught the episode I dvr'd last nite. Not half bad.

East bound and down is the greatest show ever so funny cant wait till it starts up again
ludawg23
It's not bad. I think the acting is sub-par and they try too hard with some of the jokes but I don't mind watching it.

But how many guys are in this league? Like 6? haha
Timmah!
This thread is stirring up images of a My Boys episode from a while back.

Six close friends get together for the annual fantasy baseball draft at a bar. All of the things you would make a joke about were there:

- the guy who insists on using a laptop that doesn't work
- the guy who tries drafting by phone, and alternately picks out of turn and tries taking selected players ("Is Pujols available?")
- someone take a favorite player of another owner, so she responds by taking his favorite player

Yahoo actually set up a league for them and you could view their teams. Unfortunately, someone forgot to keep up with it, so their lineups never changed, and many pitchers never started for them.

But I give them credit for trying.....

great show...i thought it was a 30 min show but it ended up being like an hour which was a nice suprise...great show

Last night's episode was a step down from the premier IMO...It was more a "Always Sunny" for married guys. It still has promise to have some very episodes though.

Plus, that Latin chick from My Name is Earl is on it, and she's worth the price of admission.

I hadn't even heard of the show until I saw it show up on my DVR list. Come to find out, my wife started recording the series for me becuase she knew I would love it.....and she was dead on. The show is absolutely hilarious.

During the show I couldn't help but tell her how the exact same scenarios came up during the various drafts I attend....and by the end of the night (two back-to-back episodes) she thought I was such a fantasy nerd she was ready to draw up the divorce papers.
