Dunleavy has had a setback and will be out until November. He had offseason surgery to remove a bone spur and then later repair a tendon. That same tendon is giving him issues, but it doesn't sound like it will be as bad this year since the bone spur has been removed. I would still avoid him, but don't think he will be lost for the season. I wouldn't mind Rush if I knew that Dunleavy was out all year. He is even going undrafted in some standard leagues, so it isn't like you would need to reach.

dunleavy could easily be a bench player when he returns if rush plays well though.

So out of the loop for basketball, when was Dunleavy hurt this offseason?
I thought he was only out for last year's reg season toward the end.

Dahntay Jones is expected to come off the bench for the Pacers to begin the season.
Indiana is expected to be without Mike Dunleavy, who is recovering from knee surgery, until December.
The Pacers are likely to put second-year guard Brandon Rush in the starting lineup at shooting guard, with Jones being one of the first players off the bench.

He absolutely tore it up for the pacers in April with 16ppg 2 3ptm and 52% shooting.
Obviously no way he keeps that up but a conservative estimate of 12-13ppg @ 44-45 fg%, 1.5 3ptm @ 37% shooting and 4.5 rebs should be good from an O-rank of 140 in yahoo leagues.

I was not pleased with his performance last night. Not pleased one bit

Agreed.
Also, for anyone who is thinking about picking him up, the pacers have a light schedule coming up - 2 games this week, 3 games the next, and another 2 the week after.

I'm benching him until I see something good. He had some really horrible turnovers yesterday which made O'Brien pull him for Dahntay Jones.

Really horrid two games. I wonder how long Rush can keep this up before he's benched for Dahntay Jones.
The only saving grace from last game is Dahntay sucked too.

He's doing nothing, but honestly, it's tough to take any shots when Granger is hoisting up 20+ shots a game and dominating the entire offense. Pacers have looked absolutely terrible.
Either way, really disappointing start.

I haven't had time to catch any Pacer games yet, but I'm fairly discouraged by the time allotment so far. I did read that Rush has complained that he's essentially fearful that making any mistakes will get him immediately removed and thus unable to get into a grove, and I do buy that reasoning. However, I have not yet seen his play this season, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. He was a pick of mine, and he is getting benched for the foreseeable future. However, Granger taking 20+ shots isn't a reason why Rush is riding the pine and not doing well. Something else is afoot.

He's made some young player mistakes the first two games and Jim O'Brien has had an insanely quick trigger to pull him. To be honest, I think it has to do with the fact that O'Brien is coaching for his job right now and he knows it. At the first sign of trouble, he's going to go to the steady veteran presence of Jones over a young guy like Rush who is prone to make more mistakes. Just my two cents.

a lot more minutes past 2 games, and put up some fair numbers tonight. Time to pick him up if he's out there??

should be owned in 12 man leagues. But he did play the Knicks so I'm not buying his line so much. But I would have interest.

I don't follow? Why do you think Jones is going to eat Rush's minutes? Rush needs to figure it out, and he might have found his confidence last night so he's going to get 35+ mpg now and become much more reliable.

He played 32 mins in the game before, and that was because murphy went down in the first quarter with an injury, which put dahntay jones on the floor alongside rush....instead of REPLACING Rush, which is usually the case. Same goes for last night's game.
When he proves he can get minutes with all the starters healthy, I'll pick him up.

Rush is the starter. Jones will only be a backup or injury replacement. Rush was benched early in the season for his poor play, but his recent contributions will ensure that he continues to get major minutes going forward.

Well I drafted him, held him for 2 weeks, dropped him, then last night picked him back up.
His last 2 games were worthy of being rosterable and Paul's injury required me to make a move. Here's hoping the last 2 weren't a mirage.
