Is the super sleeper tag on him justified? Maybe I'm missing something - but I'm assuming everyone's high on him because of the loss of Artest, T-Mac and Yao this season. He's a great hustler, but is he just another case of "great player in real life, not so in fantasy"?
I'm also curious if his average mpg this season exceeds that of last season's. Chuck Hayes is starting and David Andersen is emerging. Landry is undersized for a PF/C and he doesnt shoot the ball well enough for an SF. I'm thinking they're going to hesitate using him against teams with big frontcourts - and the Rockets offense isn't exactly so uptempo that they'll start playing small ball. Most of Landry's points come from putbacks.
So, I don't really see how he's going to break out this season. Rotoworld are touting him as a "super sleeper", but they also labelled Amir Johnson that last season.

at what pick should you get him, what are his possible lines this season?

I would take him round 12 just in case, though you might be able to get him in round 13 or even 14...this is a 13 team league im talking about
With Starters minutes he could get 24 and 12 a night easily. Unfotunatly (for fantasy owners. Fortunate for rockets fans) he plays his ball in HOU. He should get 27+ minutes and more towards 32 as 6'6 chuck hayes is the center now and david anderson is more bargani like so landry is the hustle player...
im liking landry this year esp. if scola or hayes were to go down

I think he should be taken in a 13th round in a standard 12-team league... I'd be more high on him if Adelman had announced that he'd be starting...

That's what I'm saying. Right now I think everyone's banking on him to replace, or take the majority of minutes away from Hayes or Scola. I don't necessarily see that as being a given. Without those minutes he's mediocre (starter or not), and if his fantasy viability right now depends on that, then I'd rather wait. Too much uncertainty for me at the moment.

Yea, the team would be way too undersized if they start Scola at the 5 and Landry at the 4... Which is too bad coz Landry is one efficient monster... He's my "Paul Millsap waiting to happen"...

He's starting to get more consistent numbers which are worth talking bout & could be a potential double double guy with elite %s... What do you guys think?

I picked him up right after Yi Jianlian's injury.
He was the best off the wire and luckily he has put up 2 solid games since then.
About his game, I think someone already mentioned before, he's like a Paul Millsap.
He thrives on hustle plays, drop passes and put backs.
I'm not so sure if he has really developed a good post-up game but he had a clutch jump hook against Lamar Odom the other day.
Fantasy-wise, IMHO, it still seems best for him to come off the bench (just add 5-10 mins of PT) and most of the time go against the opposing team's reserves. Once he gets his rhythm, when starters come in, he'd be able to compete squarely against them.

so far his stats look like haslem, but with slightly higher penchant for blocks. i'd probably take landry over taj gibson for the time being.

This was my exact situation. I have Carl Landry and had a chance to pick up Taj Gibson when TT news broke out.
I decided to stay with Landry since we don't have any idea about Taj's production, and you have to factor in that he's just a rookie.

Looks to me to be similar in production to Beasley. Except better. Time to own Mr. Landry. Can't imagine what he would do with 34 mpg.
I watched him tonight vs Dallas and he crashed the boards, takes high % shots and out-quicks the hell out of the bigs trying to guard him. Not sure what to think about the FT%, but his stroke looked pure and for better or worse he should end up at the line a lot.

Landry 11-15 tonight with 23 points and 7 rebounds.
Not too shabby for 27 minutes... makes you wonder why he's not starting... or getting 30+ minutes...

I'm wondering the same thing, but even if he does, the chances of T-Mac getting hurt again is probably pretty high.

We've got another solid month (minimum) before McGrady gets up to speed. Anything can happen in that time. Scola could get banged up, McGrady could have a setback, they could trade for Okafor, etc....
Just like any other player... ride him while he's hot!

Looks like he was in the doghouse tonight.... Spent most of the game on the bench with 2 turnovers, didn't come back until late in the 4th quarter. Pretty disappointing after such a great game last night, and a pretty solid stretch.

Only downside is that he can screw you on any given night.
And since he's coming off the bench, he won't see 30 minutes a game unless Scola or Hayes get injured.

No...he's had a few bad games. And he's not extremely anything.
And when McGrady comes back, Landry just might not be the first guy off the bench.
I like Landry, but Gooden is looking pretty good right now with Dampier out indefinitely.

Yea I was meant to edit my post. It's meant to say "extremely solid and consistent for someone
who I'm sure no one even drafted".
4 bad games out of 12? I'd say that's pretty good for a free agent pickup - even in a 12 team league. But hey, that's just me
