Did a quick search and couldn't find any Yi threads for this year. Personally I think he makes for an intriguing late-round flier, or in my 16-teamer a risky play as your starting PF

.
But hey, he's the starting PF for the Nets. He should have plenty of chances to succeed this year. The question, of course, is will he?
Recent preseason numbers have looked good, but Yahoo! has kindly noted that this is without Harris in the lineup. His numbers look far less compelling when they're both on the floor together.
Still, with an ADP of around 150 you have to give him some serious consideration late in drafts. Does a line of ~ 14 ppg, 7 reb, .8 stl, 1 blk, .8 3ptm on 44/80 sound realistic? I mean he's going to get plenty of minutes this year and has reportedly had a very nice off-season. Looks like he's really been working on his post moves, which could augur a spike in FG percentage.
Thoughts? Projections?

I like your projections, I've always been a fan of Yi's versatility and skillset - it just seemed that when he was in Milwaukee he was relegated to the role of the "pick and pop" SF/PF which would be why his FG% is as low as it was. Jianlian still has a good shot with starter's minutes to always average .8SPG/1BPG because of his size/quickness. In DEC/2007 he was averaging his most MPG through 16 games at an even 30MPG and had 12PPG/6.6RPG/1.1BPG/.5SPG/1.8TO/50%FG, so we do have a sample size as to what kind of statistics to expect if he can get consistent minutes.
His fantasy game really does revolve around his FG%, if he continues to shoot low-40's his PPG will suffer and so will his MPG, if he can get that FG% up to 45-50% all of his offensive statistics will have an upward trend as will his MPG.

Yi's back-up is Eduardo Najera this season. I'm sure he'll get between 30-35 mins this season. Call me delusional but he can avarage 13/6 and 1 block+1steal this year.

I agree, but I've also been called disillusion lol. All I want from this POS is to be bench worthy in my 12 team 19 man roster dynasty league, and I don't have much worries in him being able to fulfill that. I really do have a "small ball" team though so would like for him to be just a nice role player.

To go with an oft-used cliche, I think this is really a make-or-break year for Yi. He's finally got the starting gig nailed down—if he fails to produce in this (his third) year, it's doubtful he'll ever come close to producing on par with the level of hype he came into the league with.
Which is why I like him as a sleeper this year.

Pretty sexy line for The Chairman tonight.
A very efficient 17 and 12 with two blocks, all in 24 minutes. Given that he'll probably be playing over 30 minutes per contest most nights you've got to like his potential to deliver great value for where he was drafted.
Can somebody who watched the game tonight provide any insight as to why he didn't log heavy minutes in such a close contest? I see that Terrence Williams had a pretty solid night, too—did that play a factor?

Glad he is on my team, hopefully he keeps it up. Cause he is the token asian guy in the nba now, lot of pressure.

His reps wouldn't let any team work him out pre-draft (mainly Milwaukee) so they had him do drills for people to see using...you guessed it.. chairs. Curls off chairs, posting up chairs, ect. ect.

Man I'm relieved that's where that nickname came from. For a minute there I thought it was because he's chinese and they nicknamed him after the chinese dictator, "Chairman Mao".

CDR is entrenched in that SF spot all year, has nothing really to do with Yi but more with the fact that Bobby Simmons is probably one of the worst players in the NBA at this point in his career.
I really don't know what the Nets are going to do at PF if Jianlian is out for an extended period of time, Terrence Williams will obviously get more run but the Nets will probably see if they can plug Sean Williams in there and try and get by.

We've already seen what they will do. They basically did it tonight, with smallball. The starters played heavy minutes (at or near 40), and TWill split time with Simmons. Maybe TWill gets more minutes going forward. They have already been playing the "4 guards and Brook" squad for extended minutes in practice and for spans in games already. Expect more of it. This means the biggest beneficiary of this situation is TWill. The Nets only have 5 NBA-game-worthy players on their roster, frankly. When Devin gets back, it will make 6.

How longs he gonna be out for and does this make him droppable. I had some high expectations for him coming in. Thought he'd be top 50 but now Im not so sure.

If you think he could be top 50, there is no way he is droppable. Now I will say I doubt he top 50 and I'm all for dropping him. I see very little that would make me believe he is top 50 ready.

His MRI today revealed that he does have a sprained ligament on his knee. Idk how long those take to heal.
I am sick of sprained knees this week, the one with Owen Daniels was more than enough.

Bynum tore his MCL. Yi sprained his knee (have they said which ligament?), which is only a partial tear.
nice thing about MCL injuries is that they typically heal without surgery.

Rotoworld just said he will miss 2-6 weeks. Any idea who will take his place in the starting lineup? Najera? Sean Williams?
