So I have two leagues, one is a 200 dollar league and the other is 30. The 30 begins this week, but as for the 200 I won 7-1. My opponent had Josh Smith, Lebron James and a host of players go bonkers with steals so I wasnt able to win that even though I put up an above average week in that cat. However that said, its great to start 7-1 (no tos) especially with Granger on a 2 game week and having to face LB freaking J.
My first 4 rounds, 8th pick out of 10 were, Granger/Bosh/Calderon/Arenas... So far very hapy with most of my team... Brooks, Parker, Odom, and Noah have been great for me... My only dissapointments so far have been Calderon and Milsap. Milsap because of his playing time and Calderon for missing ft's and not hovering around 9 dimes a game. I have confidence in Calderon to turn it around, but Milsap's lack of time has me worried.
Week 1 is in the books and its great to have both Fantasy Football and basketball to manage.

Well, I have J.R. Smith and Rashard Lewis on my bench and I am playing secondary guys and missing out on about 6 games between the both of them this week. I thought that I still had enough depth to be competitive while I waited for those two to come back in W3/W4 respectively I didn't realize that I would pretty much get nothing this week from Amare Stoudemire, Caron Butler, Andris Biedrins, and Charlie Villanueva.
What is even more ridiculous is that while I am down 3-6, I only lost STL by 2, REB by 12, TO by 5, FT% by .011, and 3PTM by 2. So all in all, I'm actually relieved that I can get out of "hell" week only 3-6 and should get stronger and deeper week-to-week for November.
Consider this is also a $7,200 league, so you can imagine how hard it was to stay calm and collected.

Thats pretty sweet a 600 dollar buy in, 200 was the most I could convince people to do.. Nothing worse than losing by such a small amount especially when its a category like points or boards.
Do you do nightly or weekly line up changes btw?

Won 7-1.
Squeaked through in a few cats (3 threes, 2 blocks, 0.003FG%). It was a bit of a backwards week though, I won rebounding and lost assists - my weakest and strongest cats respectively. I guess that's what happens when Nash puts up 42 assists in three games.

Amare, Anthony Randolph, Nelson and Hibbert have been stinkers for me so far... Conley has underwhelmed me (I regret trading Frye for him in the offseason)... Same thing goes for VC, Courtney Lee and Chandler... I'm still pretty optimistic about my team but I think that trade I made for Conley has hurt me in the early run... I should have grabbed Danillo while I could...

One of the better first weeks I've had.
I won 6-2 in both leagues.
In one league I had the other guys number all week. He just couldn't catch a break and all my draft risks were paying early.
In my other league, I couldn't catch a break. I tried everything and entering this morning I would have been grateful for a 4-4 tie. Then I walked in the door tonight and checked my team just as Channing Frye nailed a triple to put me up in points and 3's. I had totally written off points. 6-2 win against last year's champ in a keeper league where he has Lebron AND Chris Paul. I got very lucky.

Starting off with a loss for the first year ever. I've never lost the first week before. My opponent already had a massive games advantage over me, and he used his moves to mount even more. I decided it was better to absorb it and save my moves (we limit to 50 moves for the whole year), but it's still bitter to take the loss when I barely lost several categories to someone with a big advantage.

I find it a lot better.

My point guards have really sucked (Rose, Harris, Evans, Ford) and i lost assists by 10. I also expected rose and harris to make some threes this year, but i dont think that's going to happen. bummer.
I lost 3s, but I figure I'll get better in that cat after J.R. Smith comes back. I picked up Gallinari too. Chris Andersen stopped blocking shots, so I dropped him. Anthony Randolph stunk it up on my bench.
My big men have been good tho (Bosh, Lee, Kaman) and Louis Williams panned out.
I won 5-3, which puts me in 5th place. Not a great start, but I'm hoping I can win big next week.

My records across various leagues aren't so great.
Some surprises though:
Randolph was dropped and I was able to snag him with a fairly unremarkable waiver wire position. This is a guy who went as high as the 6th round in some drafts!
CP3 was traded and it only cost me 2 big men (A. Jeff/Horford), not bad.

We do nightly changes, last year we did weekly and the reception wasn't that great.
$600 per team was the highest that I've ever been in, I literally couldn't sleep the night before and I was sweating marbles during the draft.

With Anthony Randolph, TJ Ford, Brandon Rush, and Derrick Rose all putting up horrible numbers this week, I'm pretty optimistic about the rest of the season

The bunch below won, 5-4.
I was up 7-2 heading into yesterday, and wound up losing 3's and Points when one one of the 8 moves my opponent made between Friday and Saturday paid off by bringing him JJ Redick.
Arenas and Brooks were the easy headliners; I was disappointed by Brandon Rush's weak showings.

I beat the defending champ 7-3. Melo was huge. Howard is always huge in our format. This league was really made for Dwight and somehow I got him with the 9th overall pick last season. StackJack was underwhelming but I had listed him as one of my keepers before all the drama, so got a little burned with that. Like what Marion and Beasley have both shown as well. And getting Lou Williams in the 14th round has looked pretty good thus far.
As long as my team stays healthy they should dominate in OREB, DREB, BLKS, PTS and FGM all year long.

Lost by 2 freakin points!! My opponent caught some HUGE breaks including:
- Okur coming back into the game after leaving with a sprained ankle in the first 30 seconds of that game
- Alston having one huge game when Devin Harris went down
- Me starting Hibbert over Yi and Brandon Jennings
Otherwise I would've been the high scorer in my league this week.

I had an okay week. I got lucky and won 7-2 and I'm in 2nd place out of 12 total teams. The problem is, I'm playing the team that is in 1st place this week and I've lost Vince Carter and Lamarcus Aldridge already. Hopefully they come back this week, but my team is not nearly strong enough to sustain those two injuries, let alone one. I think this team I have is good enough to make the playoffs, but beyond that who knows.
This is a competitive league against the guys who run the official New York Knicks blog, so everyone has their game face on. Should be fun to see how it all shakes out eventually.

my Lebron team is doing very well. i feel like i don't have to worry about it that much.
my Rotoworld League team is not living up to its potential. as of yet. but i know it's early, and i know my players have the potential to put me close to the top, in due time. just gotta be patient. it's not a sprint, it's a marathon. i like my team, in the long run.

I'd be scared to own Elton Brand in multiple leagues. And then Jefferson is coming back from ACL surgery and we'll see where his quickness and lateral movement is at. I do like Jason Thompson though and Stephen Curry should have some big games.
Charlie V, Gerald Wallace, Durant, Okur are huge dissappointments for the first week. I won 5-3-1 only because the other team was even worse. 14 Team league so the talent is diluted a bit.

Did I miss something with Durant? Sure he was off a bit against Portland, but on the week he still averaged 22 pts, 9 rebs and 1 blk per game. Thats not too bad.

For a first round pick thats terrible. 22-9 I can get that from Zack Randolph. Durant is shooting 33% from the floor, less than 1 three, just over 1 assist and less than 1 steal a game. I expected him to contend for the scoring title this year. 22ppg is not going to cut it. Dissappointing first week for sure from a first round pick.

LOL three points off of last season ppg and thats terrible? If you say so. And I highly doubt Zach Randolph could put up the Blks, STLs, and threes that Durant does. So its even sillier to compare them.
Its three games, relax. If you overdrafted him thats you're own fault. Last year he averaged 25/6 with a 3, stl and blk. Outside of his assists and shooting % being down to start the year, the rest of his numbers are right in line with last year. You can call it "terrible" all you want. Thats who you drafted. If you were really expecting 30/15 you may be in for a rude surprise.

Dude relax, look at the name of this thread. 1st week surprises and dissappointments. I never said he was going to keep this up. All I said is that he was a dissappointment for the 1st week no need to get defensive, I know you have Durant on your team too. If you really think Durant played up to par for his first week you have pretty low expectations of him.

LOL Outside of shooting percentage, his numbers are nearly identical to last seasons totals. And he scored 25 pts in each of his first two games. It sounds more like you have extremely unrealistic expectations. Typically when people say "disappointment" they mean someone that lost the week for them. Having a guy who still has guard eligibility in many leagues average 22/9 along with a blk and a steal per game won't sink your week, unless you surrounded him with complete garbage and are just hoping that one guy carries you.
And yes I do have him on my team as well and he contributed to my team beating the defending champ 7-3 last week. But you see I didn't use a top 3 or top 4 pick on him thus leading to very unrealistic expectations. I got him as a keeper last year in the fourth round of the draft. I'm just not sure what you're expecting out of him. Lebron only averaged 24 ppg in the first week. Would that also have been disappointing for you?
