Do you make sure majority of your players have different bye weeks so then your team can compete every week?

I usually try to watch out for that when I draft, but that was not the case with my first draft. It's a 12 team H2H league with all TDs worth 6 pts so QBs move up in the rankings. Starting positions are as follows: 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 flex(RB/WR), 1 DEF, and 1 K. I had the 4th pick in the draft and luckily the 3rd guy selected LJ to make it easy for me, and I didn't have to deal with that headache all season. I feel confident in my team that it has a shot at the title if McNabb stays healthy all season.

Here's how my draft went:F.Gore(4), B.Jacobs(21), C.Johnson(28), D.McNabb(45), T.J.Housh(52), Reg.Brown(69), L.Jordan(76), B.Berrian(93), L.White(100), V.Davis(117), J.Cutler(124), Denver D(141), G.Jennings(148), O.Mare(165), R.Dayne(172)

The biggest problem with my team is Week 5. C.Johnson to L.Jordan all have the week 5 bye so I'll likely be marking that week with a Loss. I draft my team by how the flow of the draft is going and its a coincidence that I ended up with this many players with the same bye week. A few reasons on how this happend is that QBs were going early and I had to take McNabb when he fell to me in the end of the 4th because he was the last of the 2nd tier QB and I'm a believer that he can stay injury-free all season. During the 5th round, I was looking to take a 2nd WR and the best available here TJ, Plax, and Ward. I always go with the player with the best QB in these situations and in this case, it's TJ.

The question really is do you watch for bye weeks very carefully while drafting so that your player bye week's would be spread out or take the best available player at the position whether it be WR2 or RB3 and ignore the bye week?

I take the best available when it comes to my starters.....if I happen to draft Drew Brees and Reggie Bush, so what..you never know whats gonna happen during the season with injuries etc.....i will make sure that my backups obviously have their byes on seperate weeks.

I agree. Also, I dont mind having some of my top players on bye at the same time, especially if I have a strong team. Then you get your most important byes out of the way. Could it cost you a win? Certainly! But last year I got lucky and played the worst team in my league when my best players were out and still got the "W."

i've pretty much always been about BPA among the starters....except for IDP's, i always try to space them out.

Depending on the size of your starting lineup......you always take the best available player in the 1st 9-10 rounds and fill the rest out accordingly. My way of looking at it........so what if you throw a week? I'd rather cough up a "W" in one week instead of spreading my studs across 5 weeks where you are subject to a loss with certain players on a BYE.

There are alot of studs off in Week 6, 8, and 9 IMO......if you field the best players in your eyes and they happen to have the same bye week off, fill up the backup slots with quality players but make sure they can help field a full roster in certain weeks.

Roto? Nobody even offers a roto format FFL league. If they do please tell me about it because I've been hunting for one for years (I hate H2H format with a passion).

That said, no I don't pay attention to by weeks at all except o for some of the later round backup picks. Frankly I'd rather have all of my starters have their byes lumped up in 1 or 2 weeks. Sure those 2 weeks will be L's but you got a lot better chance of winning the rest of the time and 2 losses ain't gonna keep you from the playoffs.

This is rare. I am the exact same way. The more times I can put my best lineup on out the better. I never pay any attention to bye weeks. However I do pay attention to playoff schedules.

Pretty much how I feel as well...don't pay as much attention as other owners but would rather go after the best players available and worry about it later...as stated by many, having a lot of stars off at once is not necessarily a bad thing in getting it out of the way during a long season...

The only way bye weeks impact my decision making is if I'm torn between two guys and one has a more beneficial bye week for my team. Otherwise you have to go with the best guy. Unless your league's playoffs start earlier than most the byes should be over by then. Having several top players on bye the same week should at least mean you can take advantage of having them all playing in the rest of the weeks. The way I see it, your chances will be reduced that week, but it's worth it if your team is better in the long haul.

The only time I bother looking at bye weeks is when I'm choosing a backup QB. When I take my backup QB in the 2nd or 4rd to last round, there isn't anyone that stands out alone. I decide which one I want based on the bye week that my starter has.

Other than that, I'd actually prefer having most of my key players on the same bye week. I'd rather lose 1 game because they were all out than be worse off for 3 or 4 games because of all the different bye weeks.

I agree, plus sometimes you luck out and your back-ups have big weeks or the other guy's team has a down week.
