In my league, we start two IDPs each week regardless of position; scoring format is below. Which do you think is a better strategy -- starting two LBs from the same team (i.e. Fletcher and McIntosh) thinking that between them the tackles will be there as well as the chance that if one of them forces a fumble the other can recover it, or is it better to go with two Top 10 studs, such as Fletcher and Bulluck, assuming they both have good matchups?
Tackle = 1 point
Pass Defensed = 1 point
Sack = 4 points
Forced Fumble = 4 points
Defensive Fumble Recovered = 6 points
Defensive Fumble Recovery TD = 8 points
* Plus 3 points for a DFRTD of 50 to 74 Yds
* Plus 6 points for a DFRTD of 75+ Yds
* Plus 1 point for every 10 DFR return yards
Interceptions = 6 points
Interception TD = 8 points
* Plus 3 points for a IntTD of 50 to 74 Yds
* Plus 6 points for a IntTD of 75+ Yds
* Plus 1 point for every 10 INT return yards
Safety = 5 points

only 2 IDP's per team? how big is the league.and how often are IDPs add/dropped? if the movement is very fluid and you're in a normal sized league you could probably afford the ability to rotate your IDPs on a weekly basis according to matchups. tackles are 1 point a piece and there's not enough credit given to PD's so CB's are out of the question man, too risky. i prefer to not start 2 IDPs from the same team, preferably i like to start 2 MLBs on bad/mediocre teams vs good teams. starting redskin LBs this week isnt a good idea neither cuz DET isnt a great run team (i'd definitely start DEs vs them though, kitna will get sacked alot).

I would go all DB's. Guys like Antoine Winfield and Marlon Jackson will get you solid tackle numbers and a better chance for the interceptions.
Whitner in Buffalo is moving to free safety so his value goes up right now as well

Yeah, only two starting spots with two mandated backups, so nobody has more than four. It's a 12-team league, and most people don't care enough about IDPs to add/drop them regularly (plus it's $1 toward the pot for every transaction, which causes most people to sit tight with what they have). For instance, I've added Bulluck and Kirk Morrison as free agents this season. And Adalius and Barnett are available right now. I agree on CBs, I don't ever consider them. I'm most likely going with Ruud (at Indy) and Bulluck (vs. ATL) this week and leaving Fletcher and Morrison on my bench.

Hmmm, Marlin Jackson's available. Should I drop Morrison and get him?

PDs are only 1 pt a piece though. gambling on a pick is very risky. go with the sure pts and pickup/start your MLB or SS. i'd take a look at mike peterson, atari bigby, napolean harris, DJ williams or chris harris if available
its not guaranteed that CBs will get their tackles.

Nothing is guaranteed. I had Nap Harris one week and he got like 3 tackles and Jackson had 12. I think the chances of a team having to throw against the Colts is in your favor so they will have to throw in Jackson's direction.
Pickup Jackson ASAP!

Got him. Now my four IDPs are Bulluck, Fletcher, Ruud and Jackson. Which two look like the best plays this week? Bulluck (home vs. Falcons) and Jackson (home vs. Bucs)?

if the TB/IND goes according to form, i'd defintely go with ruud/ jackson. indy will likely get out to a big lead = more passes for TB, more runs for IND.

Ahhhhh, good thinking, grasshopper. And that way I'll be playing the two players with the most solo tackles! Many thanks for everyone's help.
