Alright, I have been part of a league for 4 years. We are all friends and know each other. 3 of the 4 years I have won. Obviously, people wanna knock off the #1...completely understandable. But it is getting to the point where if I have a trade pending people veto just because I am involved. We use Yahoo! for our league and I know they have it where Yahoo! can review the trades for you but I do not like that cause it allows users to hide behind their computers and just veto for no reason. And there is no way Yahoo! gives every trade legit attention when you know they have thousands to look at.

Well I am now at the point where I think our league needs to not have a veto system. If you click accept then surely you have thought the trade out. We all know each other and I know nobody will throw a team in our league. I am just sick of some of the guys in my league that have no knowledge....that just veto it because they see me involved. Do you guys feel me on this? What do you think? Do without a veto system or not?

Well i think you need to make a one person who you trust to do the right thing for the league, not himself or or other teams, the commish and he has the power to veto a trade. I am the commish in my league i have the right to veto any trade but i have to look at it from a commish not a team owner, and if i think the trade is one side or fishy then i ask for input for the other owners and make a desion then. But you have to be fair, and not selffish. Or you can try and ask someone outside the league that is part of FF to be the commish. Its a hard spot to be in but if you trust everyone not to throw a team then the teams should be honest enough to let the trade walk. I guessing there isnt as much trust in your league as you think. Now i not trying to Knock you or your league just what i think from you post.

I commish a league that has solid owners. We allow all trades to be approved when accepted. All trades are good for that week but if a majority of the league contacts me and wants to veto that trade, it can be overturned the following week. The points are not changed, all the scores stand, but the players are returned to their original owners before the next week's games begin. In the 12 years that our league has been together, we have overturned one trade. We have 3 or 4 trades almost every week.

This makes owners actually go out of their way to contact the commish and veto a trade. It is too easy for someone to just click veto and deny trades in most systems. Only reason to veto a trade is collusion....let owners run their teams......they paid their money and have every right to make bad moves as well as good ones. Hope this gives you another idea.

I'm in the exact same position as you are my friend. I am the commish for a number of leagues in all sports and win approximately 80% of them. I spend countless hours researching players and checking each teams strengths and weaknesses before I make a trade offer. Yet instead of everyone knowing that I am as honest as the day is long and that I wouldn't be involved in a trade if it weren't kosher, most of the teams in my leagues immediately vote to veto any trade that I'm a part of. It's ridiculous that I should suffer because of my previous successes. And yes, the Yahoo 'veto vote' system is awful because of the anonymity (cowardice) factor.

It's because of this that I instituted a system where if someone opposes a pending trade for any reason, they must post the word "VETO" on the message board. No other commentary is needed (unless it's asked for). If a third of the league (or more) posts "VETO" on the message board, the trade will be vetoed..No exceptions. Instead of whining about it, the teams involved in the trade are encouraged to add/subtract a player or two in order to help make the trade a bit more 'even', and then can repropose the trade. Usually the trade will go through the second time around.

This has worked 95% of the time, and so I highly recommend giving it a try.

Good luck..

Yea...I know you aren't trying to knock me or the league. What I mean is that I know the guys will not throw their teams cause they want to win. But if they see I am in a trade they all gang up and veto it cause I am in it. And the thing is ....is that I am commish. It's like the guys live to veto my trades, and I know all they wanna do it beat me and thats cool, but at least know what you are talking about before you veto it...ya know?

I have actually done this where people post VETO on the boards but the problem with that...is that some of the guys don't even know who some of the players are unless they have some big name and they post VETO just because I am involved. I do like the option of having the teams reconstructure the trade though.
Hogieball
If the guys in your league dont even know who some of the guys are unless there a big name player then doing away with veto's is a big no no... the only way to combat this is to have the commishioner, someone who will do the right thing, be the only person to be allowed to veto a trade.

If some guys in the league do not know players names they should just be booted out of the league for being morons.

i feel you on this for real. too many bad vetoes. i prefer leagues with Commish on trades. if you cant trust the commish, then you need to be in another league. fantasy sports are not the place for pettiness.
