Bryant Gumbel will miss the NFL Network's Thursday night broadcast with a sore throat.
Rejoice, football fans, rejoice! Tom Hammond will replace Gumbel in a move that rivals Kyle Orton's ascension to starter as the most exciting news of the week.

haha. Well that is kind of upsetting...now we'll have nothing to laugh at until Monday night when we see Kyle Orton's un-helmeted head on the sidelines

Kyle Orton is going to be a beast...*rolls eyes* In all honesty, he managed the game well when he got the chance as a rookie. In these past couple years, if he could have added some actual QB play to his game we may see something the Bears haven't seen in a long time. I honestly think he could be our "best" option right NOW and that is sad for me to say.
anwyays, Bryant Gumbel.

Kyle Orton's game plan will be the same as Trent Dilfer's when he took the Ravens to the Super Bowl...
"Don't do anything stupid and let our defense win the game for us."
Unfortunately for Orton, this time he has no solid defense to rely on like he did last time around.
It should be an ugly day for Orton and Bears fans....

A sore throat is just the networks way to cover up the fact that he's been awful.
I've had a sore throat before, but I'm usually able to talk just fine 2 whole days later.
Whomever replaces Gumball will magically appear for the rest of the season after reports come in that ratings were higher with this new guy.
I have a feeling we will no longer see Gumball on the NFL Network, which is fine by me!
Now if they could only replace Collinsworth(less) too... That guy is such a tool. I'm surprised we can even hear his voice with his head being so far up his own @ss....

Gumbel is SO freakin annoying. How about when a guy breaks off a 35yd run and he says "Well it appears he picked up the first down".
REALLY?? No flippin SHT!! That line he says all the time drives me nuts.
Talented journalist and terrible NFL broadcaster.

Ratings higher? Not to sure about that one, as most people that watch these games (outside of the hometown teams) would watch the game regardless of who the broadcaster is. Granted, that's not the case with GB vs DAL, but if a 49ers fan is going to watch CHI vs WAS or HOU vs DEN, then it's likely that it won't matter who the announcer is. Now, if there was a way to measure the difference in amount of games watched this week w/o the mute button on.

The Thursday game is the one he reported he was out for I believe. I'm disappointed the early theory that this was the NFL network getting a new announcer didn't pan out.

At least Collingsworthless is absent. Hammond was a billion times better than Gumball on Thurs.
Why oh why can't NFL network get it right???????????
