Probably, but I don't see why they would even bother with Webber.
Maxiell has been great this year, I don't see Webber being an upgrade, just another veteran for the playoff run.

pistons dont need him. i heard he was in talks with orlando earlier this yr but demanded that he starts and gets a certain amount of minutes. ridiculous stipulations for someone as limited as he is now.

I think the unnamed source is Webber himself and he's hoping that hometown Detroit fans will start pressuring Dumars to bring him back. I just don't think it's in the cards right now. Detroit can't trade Brezec or Herrmann in any package until the middle of February, and even if we move Murray for a draft pick or outright cut him without moving Brezec we'd be carrying seven bigs on our roster for crying out loud.

I hope this isn't true, as it will most likely make Maxiell's value drop, and he has been a solid #3 center for me this season.

I don't think he'd effect Maxiell's minutes as much as McDyess' though both could tire as the season wears on in that Dice hasn't played as many minutes as he's logging now in years and Maxey has seen a big jump in minutes from this year compared to last as well. IF we make a move for Webber, it means Primoz Brezec is a goner and I could see a minutes breakdown looking something like this -

Rasheed Wallace - 30
Antonio McDyess - 25
Jason Maxiell - 25
Chris Webber - 16

If we bring Webber back, he'll come in with his eyes wide open and completely understanding his role.
