Doesn't this guy have like two rings? Why so disgruntled in LA? Well, the last time he hooked up with KG they made it to the Western Conference finals...hopefully they'll make the NBA finals this year.

Los Angeles Clippers point guard Sam Cassell is expected to sign buyout papers with the franchise soon and will sign with the Boston Celtics once he clears waivers, according to an NBA source.
Cassell and the Clippers have agreed to buyout terms. He is expected to receive some of the money remaining on his $6.1 million salary this season.
Once the 38-year-old's buyout is official, he has to clear waivers (which takes 48 hours) before he can become eligible to sign with another team. The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder is expected to clear waivers by Saturday and would be eligible to play the rest of the season and postseason for the Celtics.
Cassell is averaging 12.8 points and 4.7 assists this season. He has said he would have no problem backing up starting point guard Rajon Rondo if he came to Boston. Celtics general manager Danny Ainge has said he is interested in finding the "right veteran point guard."
Cassell will not travel with the Clippers to Denver, where they face the Nuggets on Friday night.
The Clippers are expected to sign guard Flip Murray, who was let go by the Detroit Pistons, to replace Cassell.

E.T. phone home!
oh well. it was a nice run for Cassell with the Clippers the past few years. he got them to the playoffs and all. so, it's all good. the Clippers need to re-tool and get rid of Corey Maggette in exchange for someone better.

Sterling apparently has a mancrush on Maggette...so all of Dunleavy's lobbying to ship him out of town have fallen on deaf ears. I'll trade Maggette and Brand for Arenas and a serviceable PF.

With signing of PJ Brown and Cassell, i'm leaning toward changing my prediction of who comes out of East. It used to be Detroit b/c of bench and experience, but now C's have caught up. Big three are all seasoned veterans, but Sam Cassell brings that legitimate championship experience along with him.
Celtic's line up in 4th Q....I can't imagine one guy choking up and screwing up plays.
Cassell
Ray Allen
Paul Pierce
PJ Brown

ESPN was acting like it wasn't a sure thing he'll end up in BOS, since he still has to clear waivers.

I wonder if I can pawn off Cassell in my small league... Watch him turn it on now.

You joke, but I would not be surprised if he did turn it on now. This could be one of those instances of a player not playing well on a team becuase he has no reason to (on the clippers) and then he goes to a good team and he plays his A Game (Celtics). If Rondo were to get injured I think Cassell could be a major pick up, I'm talking top 50.

I can only hope that Rondo remains the favorite in Boston...he has ran the offense well all season. My biggest fear as of right now is that Boston will ride the hot hand, meaning if Rondo misses a couple of shots, Cassell will be in. The best thing Rondo has going for him is 1.) Rondo's defense is far superior to Cassells 2.) Earlier in the year, these two met and Rondo completely wrecked Sam's night destroying him while having one of Rondo's best nights of the year. (It also lead to Sam's ejection for taking a cheap shot at Rondo out of frustration).
Rondo is clearly the better PG but I hope it is clear to Doc.

Rondo is a beast...career high 16 assists. Screw that Cassell noise!
