hollywood's got a collective brainfart. when you cant think of anything creative to do, translate to film something that a bunch of people are familiar with.

looking at the cast it's hit or miss, mostly miss. the director's the same guy who did the mummy movies (the mummy, mummy returns). he also did the scoropion king and van helsing. not looking forward to it, although joseph gordon levitt as cobra commander would at least be interesting.

Uh...not good. It's still earlier and they might end up getting a different director later. I'd prefer my boy David Fincher or maybe a Bryan Singer.
The Darcmenace
Channing Tatum is in it, has a very good possibility of being horrible

Transformers was fantastic. Nothing will come close to that.

I heard the A-Team is supposed to happen as well....

Someone posted this from another forum I visit quite often....

Marlon Wayans is Ripcord.

The kid from 3rd Rock from the Sun is going to be Cobra Commander (???). That will be interesting.
spundin
Arnold Vosloo, the guy who played the Mummy, who also played Habib Marwan from the 4th day/season of 24 is going to be Zartan.

Dennis Quaid is General Hawk.

Sienna Miller is the Baroness
spundin
Channing Tatum (Stop Loss, Coach Carter) is Duke
(This is the least gay picture I could find of him) :

Christopher Eccleston (28 Days Later, the Others) is Destro (Chrome Dome)

Rachel Nichols (Alias, 2008 Star Trek) is Scarlett
spundin
Some guy named Byung-hun Lee is Storm Shadow.

Americans love things that are already popular. The focus groups that provide psychographic research to the mainstream film studios reveals that the majority of Americans would rather see a modern version of something they are already familiar with instead of trying something new. Add that to the fact that nostalgia sells big time, and you can see why the studios keep cranking out these remakes.

I'm not trying to defend the backwards studio system, only trying to explain why this pattern continues.
