So, despite coming back a month earlier than expected from the ankle surgery, Ronaldo appears to be picking up where he left off, with a Goal and Assist last weekend. He dominated the scoring last season; I don't think anyone came with 75 points of him. But even though he sat out the first six weeks of the season, his price, which started at 14 million, never dropped.
The question now, is do you commit a large chunk of the club's payroll to one player, even if he is proabbly still the dominant player in the league, or do you stay away and spread out the funds.....all while hoping that he doesn't help other teams move past you? I can tell you that during last season's Cup competition, there were a few times where I had good weeks, but a Ronaldo-led team still managed to do better.
I honestly don't know, and while I've committed major sums to him (last year) and Thierry Henry (in 06/07), I found it to be like owning Barry Sanders......it's great when he as a 20 point week, but there's going to be a few 2's along the way.
What say you?
