What's the deal with this guy? Neil Rackers has sucked it up for my team, and Carney is one of the leading kickers. Is he done when tynes is ready?

Have you made a decision on a kicker this week?
No, we will make that call when we have to.
Is it possible that there will be no decision at all?
That is possible.
Is it possible that you will carry both of them for the season?
I don’t know that. Right now we are just taking it on day at a time.
Is Lawrence Tynes going to get a full workload today?
They will work as they always do, both kickers. They had done that last week.

I was going on reports from last week that Tynes would take the job back when he returned. I dropped Rackers for him already. Not that I'm missing much with Rackers but I figured Tynes would be a nice pickup considering he's got a solid offense behind him.

I'm considering dropping my TE to carry both kickers. I'm getting next to nothing out of that position.
But the last thing I saw said Tynes' knee was still swelling after every workout so I'm guessing it will be another week before Coughlin considers getting rid of one of them.
Karney is 9/9 on field goals this year and his kickoffs have been very good. I'd have a hard time benching him if I were Coughlin.

Giants K Lawrence Tynes' knee swelled up after practice Wednesday and he "does not appear close to returning," according to the AP.
Tynes has been slow to recover from arthroscopic knee surgery and the Jints have little reason to push him back with John Carney kicking so well.

If they could IR Tynes, I would pick up Carney is a second.
I think he's better than Tynes (although older, but I don't see that as an issue for a kicker).
As it is, I'm staying away from both also.

I know he is a kicker, but Carney has been money so far this year. Double digit points every week.
The Giants kicker, whoever it is, is going to be good.
So I know who to keep and who to drop, if you hear anything about Carney or Tynes, post it here.
I have to think the Giants are considering releasing Tynes instead of Carney. The old man has not missed all year. 12/12 in 4 games.

Ralph, anymore info on the Tynes-Carney situation? Carney's kickoffs were pretty week against Seattle. Perhaps a sign the old guy is wearing down?
12:34
[Comment From Maste78]
hi ralph, what the status of the kicking game?
12:36
This is why, whenever someone e-mailed me to tell me the Giants had to stick with Carney, I said I disagreed. His kickoffs were bad against Seattle. I think only 4 of 9 landed inside the 10 and one was a weird squib and another went out of bounds. Given that performance, it's very possible that Tynes will be back in his old job on Monday night. That was always the worry abuot Carney. He's incredibly accurate, but he's 44 years old and there's no fighting Father Time. He couldn't be their kicker for 16 games because his leg was/is going to wear down and those kickoffs are just going to keep getting shorter - and so, by the way, will his field goal range. Tynes may not be as "money" as Carney appears to be on FGs, but he's got a younger, stronger leg. That's important because football has become a game of field position more than anything else. Go watch last year's playoff run and tell me how you think the Giants would've done if Domenik Hixon and RW McQuarters hadn't sparked the return game during the playoffs. In a sense, the Giants got lucky on Sunday because Seattle always had good field position. If they give an explosive offense like, say, the Cowboys that kind of advantage, it could be real trouble. So Tynes will be back, and probably soon.

Giants K Lawrence Tynes is no longer on the Week 6 injury report.
Tynes' knee woes appear to be behind him, but it'll be a game-time decision whether he or John Carney kicks at Cleveland. It's a situation to avoid.

This sucks. I wish the Giants would F'ing just name the kicker. I have Carney starting right now and I don't want to get screwed here and see my opponant pick up Tynes and cost me a win. I do think that Carney is the superior kicker and likely to be top 3 in points this week if he's playing but damnit this is just stupid. Name the damn starter already! I don't want to have to handicap a F'ing kicker!!!!!!!!!

What's up tonight with the Giants' kicker situation? Will it be Tynes? Will it be Carney?
Carney has been a great fantasy kicker for my club this year, so if he gets replaced I want to pick up Tynes ASAP b/c I feel like anybody kicking for the Giants will be highly-valuable in fantasy leagues.
I guess my question, however, is does anybody have any insight on this situation tonight?

Fingers crossed for Carney. I gambled foolishly and completely effed up my roster with this K situation. I misinterpreted our league rules and thought that I would be able to drop Carney for Tynes up to 5 minutes before game time but add/drops lock 5 minutes before the first game of the week.
I figure since Tynes hasn't kicked at all they may wait a week to get him back out there considering it's a GTD. Carney has yet to miss if I'm not mistaken. Why fix what isn't broken?

I picked up Tynes yesterday to hedge it, but I really wish the Giants would just report it already so that I can make sure that everything is set to go. Ugh, I should have gone with my gut yesterday and dropped Carney for Matt Bryant instead of trying to carry two kickers just because the Giants have had such a solid kicking game. Plus, their schedule gets harder down the line. This is what I get for quitting playing matchup.

Well it was stated that Carney is the caretaker at the kicking position until Tynes got healthy and he is now as he is no longer on the injury report. I hate to say it but if I had to guess I think it will be Tynes tonight because he probably could have played last week but they wanted to make sure he was a go and he's had an additional week to get ready.
I think the Giants would like to keep Carney but he's 44 years old and they may be afraid his leg begins to tire (for distance kicks)later in the season. He's already beginning to show that on kickoffs so he's definitely not the long term solution and maybe not short term either for the season.
Plus the G-men did pay Tynes a good amount of money to retain him and Coughlin said he would hold a spot for him.
I think Carney is gone tonight. If your lucky he may be around this one last game.

in spite of the 2 XP's. I had Jacobs and Braylon going and I needed 25 points. Braylon almost won it for me alone.
This is still a situation worth monitoring because I think the NYG's K will be a solid play most weeks with that offense.

The Giants confirmed to Lawrence Tynes that he will be their starting kicker moving forward.
John Carney was exceptional while Tynes was coming off knee surgery, but will be cut shortly. Tynes isn't as valuable a fantasy option, especially with the winter months ahead. Dome kickers are much better bets this time of year.

The person, who requested anonymity because he isn't authorized to speak for the team, said it's likely the reason is that Lawrence Tynes spoke over coach Tom Coughlin's head earlier this week when he said he would kick in today's game. Tynes is healthy after suffering a knee injury during the preseason.
