  1. Austin Hays (shoulda still been with team in ST) also hurt himself in the minors today. O-R-I-O-L-E-S! Hey, when will teams officially DL IL guys?
  2. . Hirano is being considered for the closer role along with Archie Bradley and Greg Holland, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports. It was widely assumed that Bradley and Holland were the candidates, but Hirano has been added to mix. Manager Torey Lovullo said he and general manager Mike Hazen started discussion on the team's closer, and a decision is expected in the next few days.
  3. ARIZONA - any shot that Hirano closes? Holland and Bradley (when closing) sucked last year if I'm not mistaken. Anyone with knowledge on this situation?
  4. No talk about this dude, justifiably so, in a long time. I'm streaming tonight based on the requisite fangraphs article that always seems to dupe me. Hope I don't regret.
  5. Mets are hotter when the "pitchers" are a backup OF and INF. Why is Dereck not on the DL for ESPN?
  6. Rotowire: Myers is expected to start at third base for the Padres when he comes off the disabled list Monday, although manager Andy Green has avoided explicitly saying as much. The 27-year-old may not become the team's everyday starter at third base, but the Padres are clearly attempting to figure out the versatility of some of their core players, including Myers, who has already played first base in addition to all three outfield spots this season. 3B, even part-time, better or worse for Myers' health?
  7. Methinks something doth smell rotten.
  8. Batting #3 today. I really needed those SBs. Oh well.
  9. Fowler to DL. What does this do for Bader's playing time?
  10. Per Rotowire: Myers left Thursday's game against the Cubs with a left foot contusion. He was 0-for-3 before leaving before the bottom of the sixth inning with the bruised foot. Travis Jankowski replaced him in left field. Myers has already missed 56 games due to injury this season. It's unclear exactly how Myers suffered the injury.
