  1. Watching the games, it doesn’t seem to be a matter of poor plate discipline. Most of the strikeouts have actually been looking rather than chasing. Not saying he’ll be a stud, but it’s not like a Brinson situation where he could never identify a breaking ball. Mets pitching staff is also pretty tough right now.
  2. It’s probably never worth it to try and figure out the Rays. However, over the last week, they seem to have settled on Nick Anderson in the 8th inning and Emilio Pagan in the 9th inning.
  3. Jarlin Garcia coming in in the 7th with the team down 5-4.
  4. Watching the Marlins game, it certainly looks like it’ll be Stanek’s job to lose.
  5. Are the A’s using Hendriks as an opener tomorrow? Second time Vasgersian says it on the Sunday Night broadcast, but I don’t see it anywhere else.
  6. Pretty impressive for a basketball player
  7. The Marlins had an awful start fielding a historically bad offense. Since they called up guys like Harold Ramirez and got Garrett Cooper healthy, they’ve been a little more respectable. They’re 32-34 since starting 10-31. Plus, even bad teams win games and get saves. Romo had 17.
  8. This is an extremely darkhorse candidate but since the Marlins don’t really have a clear favorite right now, I’ll throw Jeff Brigham’s name out there. Another failed starter type, I’ve always liked his arm out of the bullpen. Just pitched the 11th of a 4-4 game. 97 mph fastball, good breaking ball. 1-2-3 inning with 2 K’s right now.
  9. Who cares about what Hendricks numbers were before this year? He didn’t throw high 90’s heat with a great strikeout rate before this year. Mark Canha, who shouldn’t be playing CF, taking a weird angle on the game-tying 2B didn’t help matters today.
  10. I think Rogers will get the majority, but I could see Romo getting a few saves too. I’m a Marlins fan (unfortunately) and Romo really hasn’t been that bad this year. His slider is still great.
  11. Anderson the favorite, yes. Behind Anderson right now would be Jarlin Garcia who’s on a run of 18 consecutive scoreless appearances. Trevor Richards recently moved to the bullpen and his stuff could play up there too — he has a great changeup.
  12. Colin Poche is basically Tony Cingrani.
  13. Diego Castillo destroying ratios this week.
  14. What’s going on in St. Louis?
  15. Yeah I noticed him the other night on pitchingninja's Twitter. He has a fastball that can touch triple digits with a wipeout breaking ball.
