British newspaper The Guardian is reporting that ESPN could enter the battle for live Premier League TV rights when bids start for the next contract, which runs from 2010 to 2013.

Premier League matches are typically played on weekends, starting in the second week of August, and running into mid-May. Thanks to the time difference, they would be seen here in the morning. Currently, they can be seen on Fox Soccer Channel, and are occasionally repeated during the week on Comcast sports channels.

ESPN already carries Champions League matches on ESPN Classic, and air the Finals matches on ESPN2.
