IDP Questions 2009

So you can only start 1 after Harrison/Dansby?

I'd stick with Howard against the Chiefs. He's stepping up his play while Morrison is hurt and looks to be making plays....

M

So....

Thomas Howard @KC over Justin Durant vs ARI?

Im dropping Merriman....

Who do I start, Tatupu or Gaither? Tatupu is questionable, has not practiced all week but he's expected to play. Would you risk him or go with Gaither?

I'd play it safe, unless you have someone else in your back pocket that you can throw in at 4 o'clock if Lofa doesn't play.

I'd avoid Lofa today. He may play 1/2 to 2/3 of the snaps today to keep him healthy. Like Timmah! said, unless you have another good option at the 4:00 (which I'm assuming you don't), I'd go with Gaither but his opportunities might be limited facing the Saints....

i need to pick a DL and fast. Justin Smith has been a complete fail this far. And could use some points in that area as Dallas Def has been terrible thus far.

im looking at

Elvis Dumervil

Greg Ellis

Trent Cole

or Antwan Odom

the top 2 guys have LB eligibility as well as I think they play in 3-4 schemes.

1pt for tackle, .25pt for ast tackle, 3 pts for sack, 1pt for pass defended

thanks

I prefer Cole from that group. He's one of the top fantasy DE's in the league, and if your league is DL-mandatory, he shouldn't be unowned.

Davis - love that he followed up the opening week tackle-fest with another double-digit game, may not get Sacks, but Ints and PD's?

Peterson - appears to love playing in Mike Smith's system, has been major producer in past

Jackson - usually strong with Solos, appeared to take a step up in playmaking last year

Fletcher - dropped off from 1st week bonanza but should continue to collect tackles behind Haynesworth

Ryans - not a playmaker but should be solid in tackles

Justin Durant

Is he the real deal? i have been waiting for him to finally break out, and this year seems to the year.

Im strongly considering adding him to my core of LB's.....

I own:

James Harrison

Karlos Dansby

Thomas Howard

I would like to add Durant, so im going to drop one of my WR's. Is he worth the pick up?

I think he's for real.

He was one of my prime sleepers heading into this season, and is actually picking up where he left off at the end of '08, when he had 17 total tackles in the final two games.

I have him on two of my teams [EDIT: make that three...d'oh], and on one of them, he's allowed me to not miss Jerod Mayo.

1. Howard has been a monster at the weak-side this year

2. Harrison has gotten off to a slow start but that was to be expected. I'd still start him

3. Durant has been making plays, so I'd roll with him this week

New England has done a good job blocking off the strong-side backers so I'm not sure how many opps Peterson is going to get and same with Dansby against Indy....

Good luck with the your decision

I'll take Harrison, Durant and Howard.

I like Durant's matchup in general, MLB's have done a solid job against the Texans this year, and Howard has consistenly played well against the Broncos in the past, and is off to a fine start in '09.

EDIT: or, I could just say, "what mentalacumen said", LOL

I'd be rolling with these 3:

1. Bryan Scott vs. NO (love the matchup vs. the pass happy Saints)

2. Sabby Piscitelli (No Jermaine Phillips means more opportunities for him)

3. Tvvon Branch (Denver should be passing but he could also play up the near the line)

Good luck with your decision!

Would any of you guys start Sabby Piscitelli over D'Qwell Jackson, or Curtis Lofton?

2 points per 3 tackles, 2 per sack, 2 per deflection, 3 per INT, 6 per TD?

I also have DeMarcus Ware and Jon Beason, but I dont think either one of them is worth benching for Sabby. In my scoring, D'Qwell has not done too much, but he is facing BAL, so he could face quite a few tackle opportunities.

TB has a nice matchup with the Giants and Jackson has a nice matchup with the Ravens. I might leave Lofton on the bench as the Pats have done well with opposing linebackers. The only 'backer that really did anything against them was Ellison. I'd probably start Sabby over Jackson this week....TBB has no Phillips so Sabby could be all over the field....

Good luck with your decision....

jayswings: I like Woodson and Mikell. Woodson's off to a very good start, and I expect the Rams to be left in need-to-throw mode. Mikell's coming off a big game, and I think he should do well vs. the Chefs.

hizemann: I'll take Harper, Horton, Lewis, Durant, Laurinaitis, Dumervil, and Jackson for your purposes. That's some nice safety depth you've got there, and the LB's are none too shabby, too.
