Respect Your Elders: Who Are Members 1-1000?

Recommended Posts

I'm an elder. My posts however are very rarely insightful or helpful in any way.

Wow, I had totally forgotten about csquared. That was a long time ago, wasn't it? So long ago that my brain thinks that was a different forum altogether.

Also,

<----- Elder.

Edit: I came here because I was reading "The Week Ahead" by Dr. A specifically to find out which teams in the NBA had 4 or 3 game weeks. It took me a month or two to realize that the posts were not originating from USA Today (whose website I was reading) but were being reprinted from rotoworld. That's when I joined.

Using "the" as the keyword the earliest post I could find came from a "Trent Edwards" "thread" (such as it was).

There were probably earlier "Welcome to Rotoworld" type sticky posts. But since Admins can edit without a trace, a revised post could have a later date than initially entered.

I don't know why I cared to look for this, except that after initially dreading this thread as a potential train wreck (which in a way it still is) I have come to embrace it anthropologically.

Can anyone find anything earlier?

(NOTE: Of course the possibility exists that the actual earliest of all posts/threads either are invisible by design or became vaporized during The Great Regression and no longer exist.)

No no no- That wasn't it at all.

It was to see if whether or not the thread's subheading "In the beginning there was one topic, and it was good" was in fact accurate.

Well, since the one thread I found is titled "Trent Edwards"...you tell me.

If you click on the double arrows by the page number of the Sub-Forum you can go all the way back to the earliest topics. The earliest threads appear to be appeals by the Admins for volunteers to Moderate.

Going by dates and times, this appears to be the first thread from the Baseball Forum and possibly the first On-Topic thread: http://forums.rotoworld.com/index.php?showtopic=12

A lot of the early pages contain things that would now be in the League Finder or Help Forums. You'll also see who the longest-tenured members are. I remember lurking through here early on, but not registering right away, until it fleshed out a little bit. The fantasy forums over at KFFL are a mish-mosh of Talk and Help, and I remember thinking that it didn't seem too different at first.

Thanks, Timmah!

I knew there was something I was missing but couldn't put my finger on it. Sub-Forums.

Yeah, In thought that there's another way to track members by numbers too, but I can't recall that either (maybe the option no longer exists).

You can't search by Member Number, but you can by Join Date, which would essentially be the same thing.

The first few Members appear to be Admins and possible Beta testers. The earliest member who actually contributed is beholderofhate, whom appeared in the Clemens thread that I linked.

Doh, how could I forget Larry, the only remaining Sacramento King fan! Funny since I'm in a couple leagues with him. He's one of those we lost because some of these people aren't dedicated enough to having fake fantasy lives and want to spend time w/ their kids, improve their careers, etc. Losers. B)

My toast to those who have left the boards...

Yeah, how could you forget Larry? He kicks our asses in Fantasy Baseball...

the early days were pretty fun. back then RW was a secret weapon. (knowing about/rostering lincecum months before anyone knew his name won me a title. thanks RW!)

the population soared once NBC started pushing it, creating a lot of noise on the boards.

it's still great now, but you just have to filter a lot more.

it's funny to see all the new members on their soapboxes, some of the older ones ride off, and others completely screw people over and go into hiding.
