FYI, I know he's a long ways away but Matt West might be having TJ surgery and he's shut down for at least the next 6 weeks.

I know Tampa is still giving him a look as a starter, but with his fastball/breaking ball combo and the depth of their rotation, I think Chris Archer has the potential to be a very good closer. Also, I'd keep an eye on Tanner Scheppers of the Rangers - the transition to starter was a failure, now that he's back in the bullpen he may rediscover his old success.

andrew cashner, sd

He's over 50 IP but a good name to remember late in drafts with benches

i agree, but cashner does fail (barely) the <50 IP qualifier in the OP

I still think there's some hope for Matt Bush. A glimmer, but some.

If only he were still a Padre, they would have a nice trio with Cashner / Boxberger / Bush. Oh wait.... they'd still be asking him to hit.

I'm going to add Anthony Meo of ARI to the list as well. He was drafted last year as a SP and will initially continue in that role but scouts see him as a reliever in the end. He and Marshall will battle for the future closer role in ARI.

Hembree looking unreal this spring, think this is Brian Wilson's last year in SF?

I'm bumping Hembree and Kelvin Herrea to the top of my future closer list with the news about Soria's elbow and Brian Wilson and Sergio Romo's elbow issues.

I'd say there's a 50/50 chance Hembree is the closer entering next year if not sooner.

He gets no publicity, but I've liked Steven Ames for a while. AFL Rising Star 69k's, 13bb, and a 2.06 era through 48 innings in the minors last season.

Dodgers

So they have this kid, Jansen, and Tollison? That's going to be a great bullpen in a year or two.

Brian Wilson off to see Dr. Andrews. Keeper/deep leagues should keep a really close eye on Hembree.
