Will Middlebrooks 3B BOS

Recommended Posts

Alex Speier of WEEI.com reports that prospect third baseman Will Middlebrooks could be promoted to the majors as soon as Wednesday.

Youkilis has missed the past three games with a stiff lower back, so Middlebrooks is expected to get the call if he isn't healthy enough to play Wednesday. Middlebrooks, 23, is hitting .333/.380/.677 with nine homers, 27 RBI and a 1.057 OPS over his first 24 games with Triple-A Pawtucket this season. He recently missed some time with a jammed thumb, but went 0-for-4 in his return to the lineup Tuesday. Those in AL-only leagues would be wise to stash him away in case he gets the call.

He won't have any real value until Youkilis is off that roster so if anyone is adding him don't drop anyone worth anything in a non keeper league. Once Youkilis was ready to resume playing everyday he went be sent back to the minors. They got Ortiz and Agone are DH and 1st, so there is no spot for this guy to play. Everyone wants to see the young guys but hardly do they come up and contribute right away.

His only shot at playing time this yr is if Youk is injured though correct? If Youk doesnt play in todays game but doesnt go on the DL will the kid stay up?

Maybe to rot on the bench, which doesn't seem beneficial to his development.

Summoned.....Ha, ha, ha, like a peon. Not added to the roster yet....

Maureen Mullen of CSNNE.com reports that prospect third baseman Will Middlebrooks has been summoned to join the Red Sox in Boston.

Whether Middlebrooks is actually added to the roster depends on the health of Kevin Youkilis, who has missed the past three games with an ailing back. There's a chance Youkilis will go on the disabled list if he's not ready to play Wednesday. This would clear the way for Middlebrooks to play everyday on the major league level, at least on a short-term basis. The 23-year-old third baseman is hitting .333/.380/.677 with nine homers, 27 RBI and a 1.057 OPS over his first 24 games with Triple-A Pawtucket this season.

"Middlebrooks was a 23 year old repeating a level of the minors before being summoned to Fenway Park. Batting .333/.380/.677 in that situation is what any self-respecting top prospect is supposed to do."

Does Daugherty even check the stats before he writes this crap? I would hardly consider 56 AAA ABs repeating a level.
