Crisp leads off the game and takes Verlander deep

Didn't see Verlander get over 95 and he got a strike 2 called on Moss that appreared to be 4 inches outside

1-3 no outs and Miggy DP again.

It was a great chance that early with Verlander on mound

starting a rookie with road roes against one of the best lineups in baseball spells disaster everywhere....

but I guess there isn't much to choose from..

Verlander gonna go 8 and approach 130 pitched? Or Benoit/Valverde? Will be interesting to see.

Sounds like Verlander's night over. 2 innings for the bullpen. Scurred.

Definitely hoping for some insurance runs here.

Man was hoping for an insurance run there but couldn't bring myself to root against Neshek. Was hoping he'd get the double play. Good for him.

Totally agree. Feel great for Neshek to have a nice outing. Baseball has to be a good thing for him right now.

wow Moss just barely missed tying the game up......so close

Thought it was gone. Wife was in the doorway and thought I was giving her a dirty look. PLEASE TIGERS GET A RUN OR THREE HERE. Really don't need a Valverde roller coaster in Game 1.

Yes we really do need at least 1 run with Valverde coming next.

Come on Miggy and Fielder!

The Tigers really needed this one and came through. Despite even Leyland realizing he couldn't trot Verlander out there for the 8th. Oakland's pitching is just SO strong, the Tigers needed the Verlander start. Maybe biased as a fan, but really like their chances at getting 2 of the next 4.

is it me or does Verlander always have a larger strike zone called for him? seems like his zone is bigger than the opposing pitchers.

it's kinda annoying tbh. I'm not even an A's fan but jesus he got some generous strikeout calls.

MVPs cause OFs to drop balls. Tigers take 1 run lead into the 8th.
