Gods Of Basketball League, Win $260, No Entry Fee (Really)

9 posts in this topic

All,

Tomorrow, Sunday at 9:15pm EST, we are drafting the Gods of Basketball 14-team ESPN H2H league, which is now entering its 7th season. As a reward for all those who take fantasy basketball seriously, I am offering the winner of this year's league a $260 prize, sent via PayPal. Runner-up receives $100. You do not have to put in any money yourself as I will pay this completely out of pocket. My motivation for this is to maintain the legacy of our league by having another great and competitive year, despite starting a week late. You will see weekly updates on season records (most points, rebounds, threes, etc. in one week). Everyone will also get to rank other teams on a weekly basis, the results of which I wil

l aggregate into one averaged-out Power Ranking and publish every week with brief comments for each team. If you are interested, please send me an e-mail to dspitsbe@gmail.com with the following info:

- How many years you have been playing fantasy NBA.

- What you like about fantasy NBA.

- What is your general approach to winning in fantasy basketball?

- Commitment to participate actively. Please note that those who consistently fail to set lineups will be replaced.

- Your e-mail where I can send you an invite.

Please message me with all this info. Messages like "Hey, please email me at abc@abc.com so I can join" and nothing else will be ignored.

Looking forward to hearing from you all. We have about 4 spots left!

Thank you

Hello, I have been playing fantasy basketball for five years now. My favorite part of fantasy basketball as opposed to football is the idea that you must set your lineups daily or you will fall behind. In football you can check once a week and be successful. But in basketball you need to be a true GM and sign players off the wire when needed almost daily. My general approach to winning fantasy basketball has been consistency. I always draft a few sleepers but all in all I draft players who have put up consistent numbers their entire career.

I look forward to being a part of this illustrious league

Hi, this sounds like a can't-miss league, especially with the free prize. I'm very interested. I have been playing fantasy basketball since the 2008-2009 NBA season, making this my 4th season. My first season was as a co-owner(because of lack of experience) in a money league and I ended up finishing 3rd in the league and found myself basically becoming addicted to fantasy basketball, more so than baseball and even football. My second season, I decided to join 2 new leagues as the only owner so that I could manage my own teams. I won my H2H money league most categories league using a high risk/high reward strategy where I punted 4 categories and focused and dominating the other 5. I figured it was easier since this was an auction league and I had developed an auction plan targeting specific players who fit my strategy and made sure that I had lots of flexibility so that I wouldn't miss out on any bargains for players that were great values during the auction and that I also didn't get into any huge bidding wars and overpaying for any single player. I ended up losing just 3 times during the regular season and was able to ride my team to the championship.

What I love about fantasy basketball is that it's like a perfect combination of fantasy football and fantasy baseball in my opinion. What I mean by that is that it has the fun factor of fantasy football, but the skill/strategy it takes to be successful in fantasy baseball because of the 82 game season. I also like that there are many different formats and strategies an owner can use to win, and in some cases even dominate their leagues if executed properly.

I'm not sure if I actually have a general approach, per say. It all depends on many factors: league size/rosters, categories, auction/snake draft and familiarity with league members(how easy is to make a trade, how good are the other owners). However, I do usually go very prepared heading into every single one of my drafts, preparing a draft strategy to me is actually one of the best parts of fantasy sports and I usually look at as many different possibilities and scenarios as possible given the time I have.

You won't have to worry about me when it comes to being a reliable member of your league. I check my teams 2-3 times per day including once before the games start and once every night to check how my players performed. I respond to all trades in time, and also try my best to counter any offers if possible and I usually like to send out a few trades offers as well. I definitely will not be that guy that offers up 3 mediocre players from my team for your top player. I also respond to all league message board topics if needed, and all polls and emails as soon as I can.

I hope you still have spots available in your league, I'd love to be apart of it. This would be my 3rd and final league of the season. I'd just like to review the league's settings before joining since I usually don't participate in leagues with more than 10 categories or extremely large rosters. My email is nucker101@gmail.com

Thank you!

I've been playing fantasy basketball for around 5 years now and am absolutely entrenched in it. i love how in fantasy basketball there is less randomness involved in it and how i can watch my favorite players dominate the competition while winning me categories throughout the week. My general approach is taking a balanced approach and most of the times i go guard heavy with a couple quality/sleeper bigs thrown in there. if i could, i will probably draft my fav player Carmelo Anthony in the first round. Im on these websites everyday and i hate the people who cant take the time to set their lineups everyday and be active on the waiver wire. I'm super active on the waiver wire and love to find the next big thing.

it be an great if you could get me into this league. My email is ballsgod87@yahoo.com

Good catch, I never emailed him. I'm guessing it's too late at this point as I expect that he's received several emails from quality owners.
