The Harsh

Forum Functionality

20 posts in this topic

As a majority of the community is aware of, the Rotoworld forums were recently rendered inactive for a slight period of time. As of today, the forums are back online and functioning at close to optimal capacity. We wish to make this transition back to normalcy as smoothly as possible, and so this thread has been set up for the members of Rotoworld to voice their thoughts on any pertinent matters at hand.

Please keep in mind that this thread is not a medium for one to criticize, belittle, provoke, or initiate any other sort of unproductive engagement. Its purpose is to act as a transactional platform: help us help you.

The forums were manually restored to their state just before going offline; there are still some kinks that need to be ironed out. If you spot any issues, or have any general comments to make, please post in this thread and the RW admins will attempt to patch things up as quickly as possible. This includes software bugs (404s, errors, glitches, etc.), or any other inconsistencies with what you've come to expect from the Rotoworld brand.

Thank you for your cooperation, understanding, and above all, your patience.

What are warning points?

A glitch in the system. Some members were able to get rid of it by logging out and back in. If that doesn't work for you, then it should be gone soon regardless.

Not a criticism but a thanks: looks like now if in a thread and click the "back" button on the browser the main board automatically refreshes, a nice upgrade.

Glad the forum is back up, good to see everyone again

Security certificates seem to be screwed up, FYI. I get a certificate error warning on every page.

OK, I see the problem. Every link within the forum directs to a secure http (https), but there are no valid security certificates associated.

If you aren't going to update the certificate, you should change the redirects to regular http links.

The admins are working on getting it fixed. My understanding is it's not a problem inherent to the board itself (which uses secure encryption during exchanges), but due to embeddings and other third-party associations.

For some reason when I access the forums, there's a giant black box covering half of the page.

Do you mind taking a screenshot?

Everything seems to be normal except for my avatar, it is blank and there is a little white triangle that says "Mower's Photo" in it's place.

I went ahead and removed your photo. Try adding a new avatar when you get the chance.

The Mobile version seems to be treating every topic as constantly being read. So if I don't read a thread for a couple of days and 15 posts are made by the time I check it again, I am always being directed to the last post made in the thread. This makes it a little difficult to figure out where I left off in a conversation.
