Terrence Ross 2012-2013 Season Outlook

Dude is a flat out shooter that has pretty good athleticism...a rare combo to have. Don't get why the raptors aren't playing him more since they can slide Derozan to the 3 and play Ross at the 2.

He has to start getting more consistent PT at some point. Casey simply can't allow a top 10 pick to rot on the bench in favor of retreads like Dominic McGuire and Linas Kleiza much longer.

I feel he's already a better player than Derozan, dunno why they extended him  Maybe it was because he actually wanted to stay in Toronto......

Because DeRozan would get eaten alive by bigger 3s

Watched him last night for the very first time and was impressed. He is pretty cot damn athletic. However, he also looks to be a very very good outside shooter which ultimately will help his transition. In deep leagues and dynasty leagues he's probably worth an immediate add (though he may have already been rostered in dynasty formats). I wonder if he can ultimately get some time at the SF position? In standard leagues I cant see him getting enough mins to relevant at the moment. However, He could be one of these guys thats very valuable for the last 15-20 games when Toronto goes into tank mode.

Checked his college, summer, and preseason stats. Not that impressed. He could shoot threes and steal the ball, but that's it. I don't think he'll be relevant this year. He needs to practice his shooting. It took him 14 attempts to average 14 points in the summer league.

Summer league is a poor medium to gauge a player's fantasy profile

Toronto is already in tank mode and they only get to keep their pick if it's in the top 3. They don't have a SF and passed on Drummond to get Ross. Ross is slowly getting more playing time and I think it going to be sooner rather than later that he's going to join the starting unit.

No really on my radar yet but he looked great yesterday, he's athletic and has a nice shot. I don't see contributing except in scoring and 3s though

Terrence Ross' college stats: http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/terrence-ross-1.html

Judging from the clips I watched, he seems to have an iffy shot selection when he gets in the paint. He doesn't seem to be very adept at laying the ball in and seems fond of doing circus shots (whether it be intentional or unintentional) and didn't draw a lot of FT attempts. He' also pretty scrawny for a 3.

I think the best case scenario we can expect from him is a poor man's JR Smith from last year (not the 1st round value JR Smith we've been seeing). That said, the Raps are empty at the 3 and I think he could provide something around 12-6-1 with 1.5 3pg and 1.2 spg. His FG might be around the low 40s though.

Just someone to watch for now in standard leagues.

Really?? I think DeRozan, although not the best fantasy player bc the stats he provides are pretty boring, is actually a very good SG in real life. Ross is a better fantasy prospect but from a real-world POV I don't think he's going to be better than DeRozan. I could be wrong, but there's a reason everyone was shocked when he went 8th in the last draft. Don't get me wrong though, definitely not putting him down as a fantasy prospect (bc of his 3's & STLs) but outside of large (16+ team) leagues and keepers I wouldn't add him just yet. As horrible as this is gonna sound, the Raps I think are still gonna wanna give Fields a chance after paying him w/ Kleiza as the primary back-up (another boring fantasy, decent real life guy) keeping DeRozan locked into heavy minutes at the SG spot, keeping Ross on the bench for the most part.

Toronto is already in tank mode and they only get to keep their pick if it's in the top 3. They don't have a SF and passed on Drummond to get Ross. Ross is slowly getting more playing time and I think it going to be sooner rather than later that he's going to join the starting unit.

They should've taken Drummond, him and Valanciunas as a front line would be pretty intriguing after 2 or so years of development growing side by side regardless of how redundant some of their skills would've been next to each other. Hey, it at least would've been an excuse to ship Bargnani out haha. Do you know off hand who gets their pick if its 4+??

The pick was used to get Lowry and then used as part of the Harden trade so OKC has the pick which is pretty scary for the rest of the NBA.

Wow that is freaking scary, since even though Toronto is bad I doubt they finish bottom 3 despite their slow start.

Derozan already gets eaten alive by 2's (even though his defense is improving) so it doesn't really matter. The Raptors obviously need a spark right now and need to start winning some games or else that pick they traded to get Lowry (to OKC) will become top 5.

What happens when Landry Fields comes back?

Absolutely nothing (on Fields part)

vehemently disagree. They paid him. He'll be involved.

Was signing Landry to a 3 year 23 million dollar contract stupid? Sure. Will they give up on him early in season 1? Keep thinking that.

And I disagree with this. Fields is garbage. He'll get the minutes, but he'll continue to do what he has been doing since the latter half of last season. Absolutely nothing.
