Lorenzo Cain 2013 Outlook

Curious about his potential power here ... he belted 7 HR in 224 ABs last season in the majors, this was done while dealing with nagging leg injuries

In the PCL in 2011 he hit 16 HRs in 487 ABs... hard to judge

He came on pretty strong after the injury for a lil bit IIRC, I'm definitely interested to see where he goes. Just a guess, but he could be a nice value later in draft, I'm thinking something like DeAza from last yr in terms of adp.

Cain is one of my favorite players. He has struggled with injuries in his career, if he ever stays healthy his potential is huge. Worth a pick because of what he could do. He is a 20/20 threat that you can get as 3rd or 4th outfielder.

de Aza is a decent comp. he's got gap power but more of a 10-12 than 18-20 based on his milb track record. but he's had a million injuries so maybe his growth has been delayed.

he strikes out too much for a guy without a lot of power. he's an AVG liability and it leaves him prone to slumps and benchings. if they want to compete this year, they're not going to settle with running bad Cain out there everyday.

.260/10/30 sounds right. not sure he can stick atop the lineup but a de Aza 2012 is possible if he can.

I am intrigued by the power potential. He does K too much and doesn't see a lot of pitches. Good LD%, but a low FB% along with the poor walk/k percentages should limit it some. He has the frame you look for though. I think that he COULD be a 20/20 threat, but we're more likely to see the stat line posted above by jsp. I'll take a shot in the latter part of the draft. Love me some LoCain!

Call him Barbra Walters cause if hes playing hes a lock for a 20/20 season.

I like him as a nice across the board contributor, not expecting major power, I would hope 14-18 range? Plug him in the OF4-5 spot, contribute bags without being complete liability power wise.

lol. Barbra Walters.

You like that? Been calling 20/20 sleepers that for a couple of years now.

Its officially the start of fantasy baseball season when the Cain thread starts getting more replies. BTW his floor is 30/30 this year. There is no ceiling.

I'm shocked this thread isnt at 60 pages already...

It'll get there. Cain's a beast. People don't need to talk about him though because nothing he does surprises anyone. He'll probably end up having a 60/60 year, and it'll just be another season for Cain. Nothing special about that because people are used to seeing it.

Good point. He is now in Miggy territory just so consistent he doesn't even need a thread. Easy lock for 40/40 with upside

I don't see a 20+ HR out of Cain. I'm an enormous Royals fan and fantasy baseball player - my prediction is 13 HR's with upwards of 23-25 SB. It's possible he could get closer to that 20 mark if he were playing in a more hitter friendly stadium, but Kauffman is a rough place to hit.

Completely agree with your April projections.

Yeah these are solid predictions for April. My only concern is if he is hitting all these home runs in April will he able to steal that many bases? But I'm assuming he will hit close to 400 so it's very likely

On a serious note.....where is everyone drafting him? Not to be a broken tape player, but he looks like a legit 15-30 guy and I think he's expected to lead off.

There is no such thing as serious in a Lorenzo Cain thread. Also, I can see him putting up a 15-30 every month. The steals may be a bit much, but when you have the talent of Cain, anything is possible.

Just wait until he starts snapping in spring training...This thread will blow up with hype...I like him to possibly go 20-20-.280 with 80 or 90 runs...His RBI will be weak but if he produces in the other categories then who cares about the lack of RBI...

No talk on Cain recently? What has his awesomeness been up to so far in Spring Training? He's going to be a steal this year. He'll bring back 1st round value easily.
