Corey Hart 2013 Outlook

Recommended Posts

the stolen bases seem to be gone. what can we expect. an increase in avg? or the same corey hart who ends up getting something close to the same every year.

If I were putting together an "all undervalued" team, he would be my 1B.

- How many 1B last year had 30HR and over 90 Runs scored? None of those guys taken in the first round did: Pujols, Votto, Fielder, etc.. None of them. He outperformed Prince Fielder, a 1st round pick in many drafts in 3 of 5 categories.

- While he doesnt bag as much as he used to in his couple 20-20 days, he still puts up mid + single digits, which again is better than some of your plodders.

I rostered him on multiple teams last season.

He's clearly under-rated......great power and still in his prime.

The negatives are that he's prone to some insane streakiness and saw a worsened K rate in '12. (Could be an anomalous or signs of decline?)

So, I'll likely roster him this year on a few squads.

Projection:

.270

28 hr

85 r

80 rbi

Now he will really be a value with news that knee surgery will put him out 3-4 Months. So at best what early May after some rehab stint?

Harts been doing as late as the 18th round in drafts that ive been in. Assuming he plays125-130 games he's going to be a massive return on ADP.

I own him every year. Every year he does his thing. He always gives value at his ADP

would he be worth stashing on the dl? i think he is out till may. i'm gonna be using him for his OF eligibility since my outfield is lacking power.

I'm currently stashing him, and think he could be a great draft day value in H2H leagues since his injury caused his draft stock to slip precipitously.

Just scored him in 20th round, can't find that power on wire. Sounds like he could be back early to mid may

i got him in the 16th round of a 14 team 7-keeper league. i feel like he's already the steal of the draft. love the 1B/OF eligibility ... yahoo has him ranked insanely low.

I heard late April is a possibility.

i drafted him at 177 overall, 15th round. i was so excited to get him that late considering he could only miss a month. i can't wait for him to come back!!

twice my friend dropped players i needed. the first one was wieters (i had Pierzynski) he dropped wieters to get puig (which ended up a bust) so i dropped mccann to get wieters. than he dropped hart for ichiro i think and had a extra spot so i stashed hart.

What in the holy hell kind of league are you in where guys are dropping Matt Wieters for Puig?!?

Hart has always been underrated -- this injury, which should keep him out for only a month or so, makes him even more underrated. Love it.

he had Yadi so i guess his reasoning was take a risk on a prospect since he already had a elite catcher.

EDIT:

i actually dropped Pierzynski for Wieters and dropped McCann for Hart. just realized my mistake. but still same thing.

Picked him with my last pick on Yahoo and put him on DL. He was ranked wayyy to low on Yahoo as many of you guys said.

Still can't believe I scored him in both my 12 team very competitive $$ leagues in the 20 and 21st rounds (yahoo)

Cool story brah? Got dang right.

He's a great steal in snake drafts this year, and perhaps even auction drafts. I lost out on him this year in my auction draft b/c he was getting too pricey for a guy who is going to be out till May with a player ranking of 25 for an OF at the very best. He will be an excellent source of moderate power once he comes back (and flex). I am a huge Corey "I wear my shades at night" Hart fan.
