I really like this core that toronto has settled on....It will get even better after bargs is shipped out....

Pg- Lowry

Sg- DD

sf- Gay

Pf- Amif

C-Jonas

bench- Ross, Alan A, Fields, Gray

They will compete and win games

Good question. I think they will take what they can and try to get an expiring contract to preserve future flexibility

What kind of player could the Raptors get for Bargnani?

(omg i just thought about.. what if they get Pau Gasol :o )

They're saying Gasol is soft. Would they trade him for someone softer, like Barg?lol.

Hamed "Who's your" Haddadi!!!

COH:

Colangelo said he has the green light to spend. They'll be in the luxury tax by next season IMO. No way they'll be players on Josh Smith, but if they can pick up a semi-elite big and some cheap shooters they can be pretty good. I personally like the trade, minus the huge salary cap hit the Raptors take with Gay.

agree about defense, you're forgetting about ross. next time you watch them play, pay attention to ross. he's still developing but plays some pretty damn good defense against shooting guards.

They are a solid team. I wonder if they are going to roll with Lowry and Lucas at PG or look to pick up some depth?

I love Ross. He is an above average defender. It will be interesting to see how things shake out down the road between ross and DD. I can see them moving DD to make room for Ross. Ross is a more prototypical SG with better range, length and defensive intensity.

This is really going to be a team to be reckoned with in a year or 2 if they can add some shooters and rid themselves of bargs

agree, that's what they should do, but they just signed DD to a 10 million dollar deal. he's not going anywhere.

Maybe they view Ross as a trade asset? Don't know....I like Rose much more then Derozan (potential-wise) but it's going to be hard to ship him with his contract. Bargs is owed another 11 mill for the next 2 seasons, his contract is also difficult to say the least.

they are immediately now possibly a borderline elite defensive team. They are flogging the clippers

clippers minus paul....

but yeah, they look pretty darn good defensively. I'm a raptors fan and have been calling them the craptors for years. If they ship Bargs and get a decent asset, they really have potential to be a top 4-5 seed in the east.

I'm impressed with Amir Johnson.

And i feel good for Rudy Gay.

Clippers are playing pretty bad tho.

Eric Bledsoe ain't no CP3.

Just take out the word "Gay" and your poem rhymes.

At the end of the game, what butler did was pretty funny.

Gay looks darn good in a raptors uniform. He's definitely number one option on this team and he makes them A LOT better. Do I think he's worth 20 mill? No. But his value to this team will be pretty good.

God if they can trade him for a bag of peanuts, then BC should pull the trigger.

Yeah you look at the clippers since Paul went down...they are barely playing .500 ball compared to their overall record.

Just goes to show what an MVP caliber season Paul is having.

That starting line up:

Pg- Lowry

Sg- DD

sf- Gay

Pf- Amif

C-Jonas

Looks very solid...I'd say a 5 or 6th seed upside in the East for future seasons.

For those of you who maybe haven't watched a lot of Raptors games this year; I already felt they were a much better team than reflected by their record. Self admittantly the NBA robbed them of 2 games and it's probably more like 4. Also they have so many close games and that series of 6 or 7 games in a row in November was nearly comical where they were up by double digits and somehow lost each game.

Like was said in the very first post I really like this newly assembled team, luxury tax related stuff aside. Lowry, Derozan, Gay, Amir, Val with that young solid bench just seems like a team that can compete.

Lets hope so for the sake of the Eastern conference, because the Raptors won't be able to sign anyone decent for the foreseeable future with the amount of albatross contracts hanging over them.

Since when have the Raptors ever been able to attract anyone decent from FA?
