I like him as a Yankee. I've been playing fantasy baseball since 2007 and he's always been on my DND list. This year I think I might go for him, provided he doesn't get too hyped pre-draft

If he hits leadoff I actually like him and I hate Ichiro. Look at Jeter in 2010 even in a down year he still had good fantasy value. He only hit .270 but had 111 runs, 10 HR, 67 RBI, 18 steals. Ichiro could hit .280 but as long as he had around .330 OBP he could get 90+ runs if he played 145 games. Granted that depends if Robinson Cano decides its cool to hit with RISP this season.

After the trade, he hit five HR & batted .338 for the Yankees. I think he is good for 10+ HR, around .290 AVG & 20+ SB. With the upside for more in the AVG & SB department.

I apologize for typing a incorrect stat. Ichiro batted .338 during home games for the Yankees. His overall AVG(67) games was .322

I have been playing since 1988 and thought he would suck when coming overseas....lol

What is his value now that Teix, Grandy, A-rod are all out?

Stays the same if you ask me. Read that he will hit in the #2 spot most of the season (in front of Cano) and Joe Girardi can't micromanage a team with so many injuries. Should get all the ABs he can handle and more stolen base opportunities with a weaker lineup.

I think he's actually hitting 3rd which really boosts his value IMO.

With such a depleted roster, i believe hes going with Jeter/Gardner at the top, ichiro/cano etc etc

My guess he doesn't want 3 lefties off the bat vs Lester. Righty pitcher he prob bats 2nd

That's idiotic on Girardi's part, seeing as Ichiro is a career .330 hitter against lefties and has great numbers against Lester.

And he hit 6th in the order vs a righty....not good. The only plus to inchiro is his speed really. And he wont be using that much hitting down in the lineup. I'm probably dropping him. His ceiling wasnt that high to begin with

He needs to be either #1 or #2 in that batting order with his high OBP. Nunez has no business at the top of the order. Hopefully Girardi changes things going forward.

i wouldnt worry to much about this guy yet...hes a hit machine even past his prime. lets not forget he hit 5 hrs in 37 games at yankee stadium so he could land in the 15 hr range with 30 or so sb's. hes still a good value play. The spot in the lineup is a little bit of a concern at this point as he needs to back second to get to his potential with runs scored.

Ichiro had a .307 OBP last year. A .310 the year before that. What high OBP?

Ichiro had a .310 OBP in 721 plate appearances in 2011. He had a .307 OBP in 663 plate appearances in 2012. His days of being a high-OBP guy are over. He never walked much, so his OBP was always batting average and BABIP driven.

He needs to be either #1 or #2 in that batting order. I own a 40 year old with name recognition so I have an inflated sense of what he's worth. Hopefully Girardi changes things going forward.

I fixed the quote to better represent what he was getting at.

Is this guy done ? I thought he was an intriguing late round pick as he slugged .531 in Yankee stadium last year but now I'm having some doubts. Not even in the lineup tonight.
