Move Aaron Rodgers?

9 posts in this topic

Won my 10 team dynasty league this year. My team is solid but with the emergence of Russell Wilson, it makes Rodgers tradeable. Right now my team is:

Qb Rodgers, Wilson

Rb Alf Morris, Joique Bell, Danny Woodhead, Darryl Richardson

Wr Percy, Jordy Nelson, James Jones, Antonio Brown, Eric Decker, Josh Gordon, Danny Amendola

Te Hernandez, Rudolph, Heath Miller

Its obvious that I need a RB2 and I am hoping that Bell or Richardson pans out. I have plenty of WR depth and TE depth (I picked up Heath a week ago, guess his owner didn't think he was worth keeping). I don't normally roster 3 TEs but he was too good to pass up, even injured. Potential trade bait. What sort of package would you guys say would get me a top 5 RB, if any? Or at least a top 10?

Before this year I wasn't really willing to part with Rodgers, but honestly I would be comfortable with Wilson as my starter.

I'm assuming you can only player one QB?

I'd shop wilson first, everyone is feeling the Wilson vibe right now...Wilson should be able to get you Gore, Spiller, maybe Martin, Stewart, Sproles, Chris Johnson, Forte etc...

No need to move Rodgers IMO

Yeah. Only play one QB. True about shopping Wilson...although I will be the first to admit I am on the Wilson bandwagon as well. Rodgers has been the most consistent player on the team for the past few years (4th year of the league). I would rather not trade them, but there is no reason to leave one on the bench if I can capitalize on them and upgrade my (much needed) RB2. In my opinion (which may be wrong), I would rather trade Rodgers for a top 5 or 6 RB than to trade Wilson for a top 12 or 13. I may be wrong but the drop off from Rodgers to Wilson is smaller than from say a Ray Rice to a Steven Jackson.

Just looking for opinions. I know its hard without seeing the makeup of the other teams in the league.

Im a fan of wilson also, but this is fantasy sports and its time to sell high....Throw Wilson out first and see what you can get before Rodgers.

Agreed. Don't sell on Rodgers at first. I'd certainly sell Wilson before Rodgers. Rodgers is pretty much a lock for a top 3 QB. Wilson could struggle next season, we just don't know because we've only seen him play one season. Although that season was good I don't think that puts him ahead of Rodgers. That being said if no one jumps on Wilson (which is unlikely since he did so well last season) try to see what you can get from Rodgers. He is one of the top 5 players in all of fantasy though, remember that when dealing him.

Yeah you might be able to get a Sproles or Murray type by dealing Wilson for some solid RB2 play. Find the owner with the weakest QB, and a stronger RB corps.

For a 10 team league you need a lot of help at RB.

I'm going to buck the trend here and say dangle Rodgers. Dynasty leagues are all about the future and while Rodgers probably has several good seasons ahead of him Wilson may have 10. Already owning Alf and a trade for a young back like McCoy or something could set you up for years at QB and RB. Just a thought...

Douggie fresh Martin would be the #1 RB i'd go after. He's a younger version of ray rice with less treads on the tires. His 2 best O-lineman went down with injuries and will be back next season. Shiano believes in smash mouth football and as ray rice's college coach knows how to use Martin's skill set, so you can feel good about his # of touches in the future. I know whomever owns him more than likely greatly values him, but with a theoretical 7 seasons of high productivity left he could anchor your team for a while.

CJ Spiller, Trent Richardson, Jamal Charles, & Demarco are all promising proven younger RBs to consider as well but they all have injury risk. I really like Daryl Richardson, especially with Jackson's impending departure, so hold on to him. You might be better served combing the FA pool for guys that currently don't have much value but appear to be the best RBs on their teams next season like Jacquiz Rodgers, Jonathan Stewart, David Wilson, lamichael james, etc. (don't know how deep your league is but if theyre taken they all be cheap trade targets). Acquiring any of the big name RB's is too costly as their owners probably love them and you're only going to get at max 3-4 more seasons from them (AP, Foster, Rice, Mccoy). Placing a draft priority on any promising rookie RBs, is a solid strategy, since dependable fantasy RBs are few and far between these days.

I'd dangle Morris, Wilson, & Decker to see if you can take adv of their great seasons. I know you probably like Morris, but i think he is a mirage that greatly benefited from RG3 and the extra attention he drew from defenses (who knows what RG3 will be able to do next yr). Morris is pretty good at a lot of things, but is not exceptional at any single skill (oh yeah and Lucipher himself is their coach and we all know how unloyal he is to RBs). Decker's is good but not great, his value is directly tied to Mannings performance and who knows how much longer he can still be elite. As talented as Percy is at this point there's no telling what team/offensive system he ends up on and his character issues make me weary (there's always some owner that doesn't understand how this will impact his performance and is enamored with Percy's upside). We all know QB is maddd deep this yr but Rodgers is SPECIAL (outscored Wilson by 90 pts) and he's is just entering his prime unlike Brees, Brady, & Manning. Rodgers didn't have much of a line this yr, no RB help, and had 5-6 defenders dropping back in coverage- yet he still performed. Things will only get better for him (don't be scared of Jennings departure hurting his #s, he still has cobb & nelson and did well with jennings being a non factor this season). Consistency is very important in a dynasty league and nobody is as consistent as Mr. Rodgers. Hope this helps you out.

I'd prefer to move Wilson and keep Rodgers, but I wouldn't be opposed to shopping both to see what return is possible. Wilson had a nice year, and may end up being very good. But Rodgers in on a HOF trajectory, so I wouldn't just toss him aside because you have the next, great thing in hand. Only let him go if you are getting ELITE talent back.

Return the favor?
