Juan Pierre 2013 Outlook

I'm personally in a league that counts OPS as a 6th hitting category, so his value takes a huge hit there, but in standard 5 cat leagues he seems like he's a great sleeper.

I agree. I see him clocking 40-50 steals easy this year. If health permits the Marlins will run him into the ground and hit him leadoff on a daily basis. Pierre has already stated that he wants all he can handle and is in prime shape to do so. If you need cheap steals he is a great end game draft pick. 90 1 45 (45-50SB) .290 would probably be what you are looking for out of Don Juan.

Im hoping to make him my pick up for injured Granderson for the first 5-6 weeks of the season, but he is a name and someone will take him.

Love me some Juan on the cheap! Crazy to think that his BA and SB abilities are still so roto- relevant!

The only real potential issue would be a deadline deal (he was almost traded about seven times by the phils last summer!) where he becomes a part time guy.

Is there any truth to the rumor that the Marlins will platoon Juan with Gorkys Hernandez this season?

Seems like a team as depleted as the Fish would have a hard time justifying platooning one of their few Major League caliber players.

Reports from Spring Training indicate that Pierre will leadoff.

Gorkys might not make the team. It's possible he might, but he might not. Pierre is guaranteed LF; Ruggiano, Coghlan, and Gorkys are competing in CF. There will likely be a platoon in CF because Redmond doesn't seem overly thrilled with any of the three playing every day.

What are your projections for Pierre this season? Think he'll put up solid numbers at BA, SB and Runs?

He's moving to a tough park and a terrible team. And he can barely field. I'll put him in the Gregor Blanco category at .280 / 30 SB / 80 Runs. This assumed he gets about 450 PA. I think it's just as likely that he stinks and gets benched, as that he plays 150+ games.

Obviously a great $1 player, Mr. Barker. Just don't forget to bid on Christian Yelich as well.

What does the big ball park have anything to do with a speedster? And being on a terrible team means he has to steal even more. He is the only viable leadoff man they have on the team and if he continues to put up anything above .280 there is no reason for the Marlins to take his speed out of the lineup.

Tremendous value pick in a redraft league.

.280/35sb seems to be rather reasonable expectations for the year....and at his going price he's plenty valuable.

I drafted him for $1 solely to hit in front of Stanton since I have him on my team as well.

Yeah I always take Yadier if I take Wainwright because he throws Yadier the ball.

stash. Juan is usually a slow starter. The steals will come and he will get regular playing time. good back up plan for your steals category,.

Does 1 for 14 in his last 3 games scare anyone off? Second game in a row he struck out 2 times. I'm really hurting for steals and thinking about picking him up on the cheap as long as he plays regularly.

10 SB now...seems like it's time to pick him up.

Marlins have no one else. He's starting.

I would sit him against lefties in daily leagues but play him for steals.

I picked him up and in two games already he's got two steals.

He's been on base 33 times and has attempted 12 steals already. Yep they're going to make him run often this season.

He was 0 for 14 vs. Halladay career so I sat him yesterday with two of my CLE hitters facing the Pelf. And of the Pelf throws his best game in god knows how long and Halladay throws a stinker.

He's running wild. I will milk as many SBs out of him as I can until he gets hurt.

the homerun shot was into 11 mph wind blowing towards home.

On a low liner like that, maybe the wind had limited effect, if at all.

I would rather have a SB out of him though. Hasn't had one in a while.

The last steal he had was when I ... of course, sat him.

The next game, CS, and he hasn't attempted one since.
