Andy Pettitte 2013 Outlook

92 posts in this topic

No topic on Pettitte? I like the young up and comers as much as the next guy, but this guy is healthy and entering camp ready to go, and just had a nice performance against the Nationals.

How many pitchers could have a 2.87 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 69 Ks in 75ip the previous year and still be FA's in many leagues?

Just curious what people's thoughts are? I understand his age and previous track record do not support last year's numbers completely, but what are people thinking for this year? He was damn good for the yankees last year when he was out there, and is looking pretty darn good again this spring.

The fact that he costs basically nothing, are people buying at all?

Yep. I am starting him but its in my A.L only league. Not sure what to expect. Owned him last year and he defied logic on most nights. Boston has been hitting so I am concerned.

Being a Yankee fan and obvious supporter throughout the many years, I drafted him for nothing and started him tonight with confidence - - think he has a good year.

It really doesn't make a ton of sense but he can still touch 90, has great control and mixes speeds very well. Plus he appears to be a very intelligent pitcher so maybe this is gonna be a very nice year for him.....if he stays healthy.

Real solid pitcher and should be an overall asset to most teams. Problem is there is absolutely no sex appeal. You will get little to nothing for him in trades and he's not going to be super dominant.

Solid win total, good whip, and era under 4...nice but this early in the year nobody wants to settle on the vet while there are still lotto tickets to be had.

His ERA last season was under 3 in 70+ IP. He has a lot of value.

Nothing ? Streamed him tonight with some nice success

Played him and got a great start. Will be streaming him all year on good matchups and 2 start weeks. He is totally overlooked.

I was surprised to get AP off waivers and in the last round or two in all of my 12-man mixed leagues. The guy was a stud last year and barring injury he will be the best fantasy pitcher in baseball based on ADP. Tom Seaver went 16-11 with a 3.17 ERA when he was 40 years old and probably one of the best seasons in the modern era for a 40+ year old. I think Andy will be adding his name to the short list of successful 40+ year old Aces.

As a Yanks fan, you can argue that watching him pitch now at 41 he is a better overal SP than the 31 yr old version, ten years back.

He has truly learned how to pitch, and is not against giving in a bit to a batter to move onto the next one. Years ago he would clearly rely more on "stuff" because he had it, but now over the past 3 years he has geared more towards working with what he has and taking it one batter at a time.

A pleasure to watch every 5th day for sure, and a rock solid option on a fantasy staff.

Grabbing him off my 12 team waiver wire is my best move so far this season. Not flashy but I'll take what I've seen so far. Nice

They say he's pitching Sunday. Just skipping the likes of Nova and Hughes.

Damn, needed him to miss his second start as I'm playing against him lol. Thanks
