Really like him this year as the starting 3b for Atlanta. He's going to be platooning, which I think is a good thing. Guy is destroying it in Spring Training, and he surprisingly has a 272 career BA in the majors vs righties.

If you wait on 3b or need a backup for a few weeks for Bret Lawrie (like I do), I think he's a good high risk low reward play late in drafts.

By no means am I predicting him to break out with any surety, I just like a lot of things about him this year.

Turner field is actually very neutral for LH power as well (as oppose to below average for RH)

Def a deeper mixed sleeper. More ideal for daily leagues because of the platoon situation. But I dont think I'd have a problem throwing him out there in my weekly lineup leagues if the Braves are up against 5 righties in a week.

Isn't he platooning? How much can we expect him to play? I have Pablo and would love an insurance third baseman

I believe I discussed that above. He is indeed platooning, but that's a good thing. Obviously limits his upside to be a top guy if he platoons all season, but very useful in deeper mixed.

Again there's like no risk in this guy. If he flops, you wasted a late round pick. I like him as a fill in 3B deep MI option with some breakout potential.

Yea I think theres a cheap 20 HRs to be found with Francisco. The 10 team allstar only leagues don't need to worry with him but for deep leagues and NL only he could slot in nicely at a CI spot. A negative will be his spot in the lineup where the highest he will hit is 7th unless Uggla struggles again.

Glad a braves fan agrees.

No. Fredi Gonzalez said Chris Johnson is gonna be getting the majority of starts at third base as long as he keeps hitting.

Designated for assignment

Wow didnt see this coming. He has been in a funk lately but I thought the platoon at 3B had been working. I think this also has to do with the Braves wanting to, and needing to, carry 7 relief pitchers. They weren't going to demote Gattis or Laird so I guess they saw this as an alternative. I can definitely see him getting a lot of interest on waivers. I don't know how Valbuena has done lately but it would make sense for the Cubs to talk about it and I guess you can't ever count out the Astros. I'm holding on in my deeper fantasy leagues until I see where he lands. I don't think I have ever had a guy on my roster who was designated for assignment but hopefully he can land full time duty somewhere.

Marlins would make some sense too. Actually think this could be a good thing for his owners (I am not one) as there is almost no chance he clears and will likely end up with a club that will give him more opportunity.

He's getting traded... he won't make it to waivers. This is probabaly a deal for a set-up man and ATL is trying to jump the rest of the market before it fully heats up.

From what I've seen, Miami, KC, Houston, and possibly even the Rays all have interest.

My bet is something like Francisco to Miami for Cishek.

If it's a trade then Minnesota would seem like a landing spot. Plouffe just isn't that good and they need some pop. Oh and they have plenty of relievers.

Damn, Dodgers need to make a play on him. But if ATL is indeed going to want a reliever, dodgers don't have spare RP's to give up...

So what does this mean for the braves 3b situation?

Chris Johnson gets another chance at a full-time gig.

Well that was rather anti-climactic. Francisco probably goes to play 1B primarily in Milwaukee. ATL gets a future LOOGY, they hope.

Ugh - probably a net loss for the Braves, especially considering they're potentially stunting Wood's growth as a starting pitcher by having him in the pen right now.

Aramis is injured more than they let on. Also, Francisco is his replacement once Aramis gets traded.

Not sure if Juan would be a long term fix at 3B for them but he could def fill the role for a couple years. I like Juan's upside, but he definitely hasn't proven that he is capable of fulfilling all the promise.

Good ballpark and lineup for Francisco to land in but yea the playing time from once Hart comes back to the trade deadline won't be ideal. If anything this should make Ramirez on even more alert to being traded.

Ramirez is ok, he just gets a day off on day games after a night game. He doesn't limp to second when he hits a double. He's still being eased into everyday duties. I think Bravesfan4life is correct when he says there may be a trade a brewing with Aramis. This team is going nowhere with the pitching staff they have, time to look to next year.

The Brewers may indeed be laying the groundwork for trading Aramis in July, but they have to get him healthy first. The Brewers cant trade him if he's hurt. And he's much more hurt than is being let on. He's getting treatment on his knee everyday. I believe he's missed 6 or 7 starts since coming off the DL a month ago....a healthy player doesnt need to miss that much time.
