Kelvin Herrera 2013 Outlook

128 posts in this topic

Did not see a thread started for ole Kelvin. He seems to be the clear set-up man to Greg Holland in Kansas City. Holland is hardly proven and has some question marks entering 2013 (his fastball was down in the spring and has had some control issues in the past). Kelvin seems to have the complete package, stuff, control, and an excellent groundball rate. Had a strong rookie year in 2012. Would seem to be a long-term answer in KC, but whether that starts this year is uncertain. With Holland already blowing a save, its a situation worth monitoring.

Save #1. Picked up Greg Holland who was yanked in the 9th.

Yost said before the game Holland was his closer. Not sure about now.

Well, that was quick. Started the thread when the score was 9-4 Royals. Another shaky outing for Holland

I snagged him as soon as the call to the bullpen was made. My leaguemates will be cursing my name.

Eh. Closers come, closers go.

I'm a big Herrera fan...his stuff is amazing and his command had been strong too. I think he takes the closers job and runs with it...

I drafted him last round this year in 2 leagues for my HLD man. Looks like I need to pick up Crow now. Herrera is going to take the closers role and run. He's totally suited for the role!

I have Rivera, Kimbrel and Balfour and Im considering picking Herrera up. He's still on the wire in my league.

Dangling closers as trade bait is fun.

Wish he was still out there. Was getting drafted before some lower end closers in all 5 drafts I was in. Lot of Royals fans in all my leagues.

News flash: Greg Holland is still the closer. It will take a few disasters to be removed from the role. MLB managers are not that quick with the hook. Especially Ned Yost.

i agree. however, i was really concerned/shocked with how quickly he got the hook today. if you couple that with yost's statement after yesterday's game, then i think that holland is on really shaky ground. i own holland everywhere and have been picking up herrera as a hedge. i advise everyone to do the same

I like the name Kelvin. It can lead to nerdy headlines. Kelvin brings the heat!

I might nickname him Celcius though. Kelvin is such a weird way to measure temperature

I think the answer is in the middle. Herrera might not be the closer, but Holland is certainly not a sure-fire closer in KC ROS.
