Justin Hunter 2013 Season Outlook

34 posts in this topic

Local college kid that the Titans moved up to draft. Most likely signals the end of Nate Wash in Ten, but adds another athletic threat for Locker.

Do they have a combine drill where the QB sails balls into the sideline or throws the ball at his feet?

Just trying to project how he'll do with Locker's slingshot arm

I want to see if this guy starts this season

He probably won't start unless there are several Injuries. He will get some decent playing time. He is still on a short leash with the coaches. He was deemed last night for not getting a first down. Lots of upside with Hunter.

Bernard Pollard: Justin Hunter can 'destroy' defenses

On the surface, Tennessee Titans second-round draft pick Justin Hunter has endured a rough start to his NFL career. He missed offseason practices with a hamstring injury, has been publicly called out by his position coach and has shown inconsistent hands throughout training camp.

Digging deeper, though, teammates and coaches remain confident in Hunter's potential to be an impact player at wide receiver.

"I can't wait until Justin Hunter realizes that he is a star," strong safety Bernard Pollard said, via The Tennessean. "It is out of control how good that guy could be."

After a drop-filled start to training camp, Hunter has started to flash the form that drew comparisons to A.J. Green at the University of Tennessee.

"When Justin realizes he can go in there and single-handedly destroy a defense, I think this team is going to be in for something," Pollard added. "And we need Justin Hunter to perform now, we can't wait. Because we are chasing that Lombardi Trophy and he's the kind of guy who could help us get it."

Lest you think Pollard's predictions are hyperbolic, keep in mind that Hunter was NFL Films analyst Greg Cosell's pick as the "most intriguing" and "most physically talented" wide receiver in the 2013 NFL Draft.

As long as Kenny Britt stays healthy and Kendall Wright "makes the leap," the Titans will ease Hunter into the rotation as a rookie. It's probably for the best, as it's evident Hunter will need to add bulk to get off the jam against NFL cornerbacks.

I watched him every game in college. Definitely a physically gifted receiver if he can get his head right. Was never the same after tearing his ACL sophmore year. I don't see him being relevant in fantasy this year but I hope he can get on the field more. One major knock on him is drops though.

Britt had an horrible game, dropping balls, bad blocking. Penalty after penalty, plus Britt was benched in the 4th for Hunter

So who's the guy now? Hunter or Wright?

lol

Wright, man

Hunter is still 4th in our depth chart. Rumors are that Britt might be gone by the deadline. Even with that, Locker spreads the ball around too much and not to mention our running game

Jake Locker personally asked the coaching staff to bench Kenny Britt for Justin Hunter on their game winning drive last week. And sure enough, he scored the game winner. If the QB likes you, the coaches have confidence in you, and Britt is obviously on his way to the bench or out of town (and the crowd booed loudly this past Sunday after a couple drops), Hunter might be a good pre-game add. Kenny Britt even tweeted that he will be gone next year. Hunter will probably start making an impact sooner rather than later...and at the very worst, he can possibly help fantasy GMs during playoff week.

Where did you hear the comment about Locker saying to bench Britt?

"Titans OC Dowell Loggains suggested Justin Hunter may play more at the expense of Kenny Britt going forward.

Ex-Rotoworld superstar Chris Wesseling has deemed Britt the NFL's worst player through three weeks. "We have a lot of faith in Justin," said Loggains. "Justin is going to be an extremely special player." As the rumor goes -- and it was essentially confirmed by Loggains -- Jake Locker personally asked for the Titans to bench Britt for Hunter on the Titans' Week 3 game-winning drive. Hunter answered the bell with a 34-yard touchdown catch."

Here's the actual article it came from. Oh and Britt didn't practice today either due to multiple injuries. But probably also has to do with coaches decisions.

Temper your expectations, Titans has a run heavy offense that passes only when they need to. I would only start their WRs if they matchup up against someone who can shut down their run and be up early.

Wow. I've never heard of that happening before.

They should cut him before he becomes a distraction.

Britt will end up..Browns? N Gordon to Titans

wasn't the browns plan to sell assets and accquire draft picks for a very solid draft class? what would be the point of giving up a high value asset like gordon for a worthless headache?

titans don't really seem like right team to offer anything for gordon anyway. Panther make sense to me.

The question is, do you trust Fitzpatrick and the Titans coaching staff to provide consistent opportunities for Hunter to put up consistent fantasy stats?

I stashed Hunter earlier in the season after it leaked out that Locker requested Hunter be on the field during that last minute TD pass to win that game. Then Locker got hurt. And Hunter did a vanishing act for weeks upon weeks.

Not so sure about that. You can see his role is growing and the coaches trust him quite a bit. 5 of his 6 catches last week were on 3rd downs. I think we're seeing the start of something good, and I highly recommend that people stash him on their benches while you can. 6'4" and runs a 4.4......daaaaaaayyyyyyyuuuuuuuuuummmmmmm.
