Donald Jones 2013 Outlook

7 posts in this topic

I've owned this guy in parts of both the last two seasons thinking he would break out.

Could this be the year? I stand by the fact that I think he's a Victor Cruz-like talent (even though I got crushed when I made the comparison last season, which may or may not have been rightfully so).

I think he has sleeper potential this year at the WR spot, especially if Danny Amendola goes down. People will stay away from him since he's a relatively unknown player with three people ahead of him (Amendola, Gronkowski, and Hernandez), but it's worth noting that Lloyd also had three people ahead of him last year AND those three people I mentioned above are injury prone (as is Jones, but that's a story for another day :o ). Unlike Lloyd, Jones will not go at a premium (if he's drafted at all) and by all accounts is a hard-worker and team player.

Any takers?

Jones has talent but he's got some more work to do on the field before I take him seriously as an option.

Released as expected.

Patriots waived WR Donald Jones.

According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the Patriots "want to get their young guys reps." Jones signed a three-year contract with New England in March, but the deal contained no guaranteed money. This move would seem to improve veteran Molasses Michael Jenkins' chances of making the final 53-man roster.

Anyone that was expecting this from Donald Jones in 2013:

Well...you're not coming with me to Vegas, that's for sure.
