Avisail Garcia just recalled. Looks like a beast with some speed. I'm making the A.D.D. baby!

I think the lack of plate discipline catches up with him his first time around the bigs. He has great upside, but I wouldn't expect too much from him this year.

Don't know much about this guy. What's this guy's scouting report and long term upside?

this is his second time around fwiw, he had 47 ab's last year, and held his own.

5 Tool player. Aggressive. Big (6-4) but athletic. Potential 20/20 player. Excellent Defender with a cannon arm.

Sounds a little like Carlos Gomez... Mmmm. I might take a stab at this. Anyone know where in the order? I would love if he was batting ahead of Cabrera.

You would think he would start off at the back of the order and work his way up. That's usually how it goes for most rookies.

Yes, but sometimes it's based on skill set. If he has a high OBP or if he has speed you would consider him up top. Some managers don't like to switch the other guys around, so if he is replacing Jackson, maybe keep him up there? Just guessing here.

Leyland's track record...he doesn't tinker with the order. Garcia has a great chance to bat leadoff. Although many fans would say Infante might deserve a shot

Garcia is a 240 lb. corner OF who doesn't walk and, while a good base runner, does not have great speed.

Leyland doesn't tinker, but nothing Garcia does profiles as a leadoff guy. Also, Kelly will likely be playing CF, not Garcia.

As for the leadoff spot in Jackson's absence, Leyland added Dirks would likely only hit leadoff against right-handed starters.

I think you're correct about him not hitting leadoff. But incorrect about him not playing CF...straight from Leyland's mouth...

Tigers manager Jim Leyland said Monday that outfielders Don Kelly, Andy Dirks and Avisail Garcia could all see playing time in center field with Austin Jackson on the disabled list. Although, Leyland hinted Garcia could see the majority of starts in center field.

"He’s going to play," Leyland told MLive.com. "I’ll put him in center against a right-hander. I’ll play him in center against left-handers. I don’t know how it’s going to work out. It could be Dirks, it could be Kelly. But I’m not going to move Torii over."

Interesting. Not sure how much he's ever played CF. He's a corner OF. Guess we'll see.

Listening to the Tigers broadcast tonight, looks like Garcia is only going to see left handlers at this point. One of the worst players in all of baseball, Don Kelly is starting against righties. Wouldn't grab Garcia just yet.

I wouldn't expect Garcia to sit over Kelly after tonight otherwise might as well left him down. He had a chance to be up here in spring and suffered a heel injury and placed on the DL then activated and sent down to mash at triple A. Little miggy is going to get to play as soon as tomorrow.

Not in the lineup again today versus a righty. Please don't tell me he has to settle for the wrong side of a platoon.

Yes, this is the case. Don Kelly...super big league player. They should have have left Garcia in AAA. He will be anyway when Jackson returns.
