Kendall Wright 2013 Season Outlook

209 posts in this topic

What do you guys think he'll be able to do in Tennessee year?

On one hand they dump Chris Palmer as OC and dumped Jared Cook who played a lot in the slot.

Then they used the 34th overall pick on Justin Hunter (giving the 49ers an extra 2014 3rd round pick in the process). Nate Washington is still on the roster and the rotoworld blurb from Apr 23 said "Titans GM Ruston Webster insists he has "no plans" to deal Nate Washington."

Does that mean less targets for Wright? How well do you see him doing in his 2nd year with Jake Locker?

And even down the line 2+ years from now?

My 2 cents:

  • Hunter is Britt insurance (in case Britt busts or leaves via free agency).
  • Ruston Webster's quote is more political than factual. I wouldn't be surprised if Washington was cut or traded before the season starts, but if he stays, it will be more for his veteran presence than anything.
  • The exit of Palmer is a good thing for the team in general (I've never understood square peg/round hole coaching).
  • Cooks departure means more targets for someone, but it's too early to say who.

2013 outlook: It all depends on Locker's development.

2014 and beyond: It all depends on Locker's development.

Locker, Britt, and Nate Washington all looking decent today. However his ADP is too high for me and I just don't trust Locker.

Wright is waiting on a legitimate QB. That said, if Locker steps up, look out. If he drops to late rounds, worth a bench spot IMO.

Not watching, but nfl.com said he limped off the field and then was carted to the lockers.

Looking for more, but that's all I got...

I'm about to go back and watch the game. Couldn't watch it live but I'm a Titans fan so it's recorded. I'll let you know how it looks but we probably won't know for sure until the MRI comes in.

Hard to roster this guy or any WR to be honest in this passing offense run by Locker. Especially after this injury. CJ2K looking like the only guy you want to own on this team.

I would take a flyer on Britt in all leagues late and Wright in PPR leagues but neither are more than a WR 4/5 at this point in 12 teamers.

I don't think I'd want anything to do with anybody outside of CJ on this roster. He's actually looked pretty good and the line has been doing a better job than last year in the limited preseason action.

I'm glad to see that Britt took the offseason seriously but I can't see him having any major value right now. I'd consider him as a really late flyer, but I'd much rather have someone like Tate who is going a little bit after him. The drop he had last night only further lowered my excitement for him, but with Locker and that offense I don't see his ceiling being as high as maybe some had hoped.

Edit: Completely forgot this was a Wright thread when I got into the second paragraph, but in 10 man 15 player roster leagues I wouldn't even consider Wright.

I've been to all if their open practices...he's easily been the best WR so far. Hell be back for week 1

As a Titans fan, I am more excited about Kendall this year than Britt. Kendall is due for a breakout season. Jake Locker not being as accurate qb, the HC told him that he needs to look for short passes and Kendall can provide him just that, not only he's deadly when he has the ball on his hand but he can also go deep, but except him to stay in the slot more. He is also expected to be ready for the opener, keep an eye on him.

I'm intrigued as a WR4. He has more upside than a lot of other guys being drafted around him. I'll predict he's there's best WR the 2nd half of the season.

Britt is a more talented WR than most guys in the league. Problem is he is an injury risk AND a trouble risk. If Wright can improve at a nice rate he can be better than anyone but Britt on that roster. Britt, when healthy, might be a top 10-15 WR, but he's no guarantee to be on the field. If he was, his ADP would be several rounds higher.

Anything to see here? He was said to be the Titans best WR during camp, but he injured his knee and sat out the latter part of the preseason. He was limited in week 1, and Munchak said that they would get him more involved week 2. So he responded with 7-54-1 on 11 targets.
