2013 Second Half Turnarounds

79 posts in this topic

Looking to see who you think is going to really tear it up in the second half of the season. There's the obvious choices, but who might be someone flying under the radar?

For me, I'm going with:

Ike Davis (should he come back up)

Brandon Moss

Alfonso Soriano (he's likely to be moved, and maybe that will spark him)

Andre Ethier (he's too good to be playing this bad)

Will Middlebrooks

Who are some of power hitters that might take off post ASB?

Edwin Jackson- peripherals are same as always, some "luck" metrics are hilariously off kilter, and most people dropped him. He had a good start last time out. I picked him back up for the stretch.

Chase Headley. He hit 23 of his 31 home runs last season in the 2nd half.

First half/second half splits are garbage.

I suspect Rickie Weeks will go on one of his usual tears. Ryan Howard I also expect to do considerably better in the second half.

Not always... there are notorious slow starters (Tex, Laroche, etc). Once you've seen the pattern hold true for a few years, I think there is some stock to it. Not that the All-Star break is some bizarre tonic for some people, but there are people who heat up with the season or wear out during the course of the year.

Can't figure out what to do with BJ Upton...used #2 waiver priority on him about a month ago and he's mostly ridden my bench but still I'm nearing my wits end. I'm assuming he'll get a mention in this thread at some point - is he going to go on one of his patented streaks or is he so lost that he's droppable???

I think he was on base 33 times at one point with 3 runs. LAD is just crap at this point and Ethier has lost all his power.

Adrian Gonzalez is on pace for 50 runs with a .377 OBP. pathetic.

Mike Trout

I'm satisfied with all of Trout's numbers thus far with the exception of SBs. I thought he would easily top 50 bags this year (providing he stayed healthy).

I guess neither of you guys ever owned Aramis Ramirez.

I'm expecting Josh Reddick to get going soon. 4 K's to 4 BB's in June so he is seeing the ball well. He is due for stat corrections given his current .188 average and .573 OPS. He could be had for almost nothing or probably free on some FA wires. 5 for 5 in SB's could provide some sneaky power - speed in the 2nd half.

We should sub title this thread "Players you own that are struggling and you'd like to see a turn around."

Unless there is some analysis given that's how I am taking it.
