This Bucco SP made his major league debut earlier today. He went 5 innings, gave up 3 ER, 7 hits, 1 BB to go along with 5 Ks (Solid beginning to the all-important K:BB ticker).

As for some history and background, he was drafted in the 9th round in 2010 out of Georgia Tech. In 65.1 AAA innings this year, he's had a 3.31 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 49 K's and 22 BB's. Fastball clocks in between 90-93, and he also has a decent slider and changeup. More of a groundball guy.

I didn't catch the game today, but any other insight as to how he looked/ whether or not he'll be a viable option in mixers while the Pirates' staff recovers would be much appreciated.

I didn't see the game, but I came here to say that's a great tag line for this thread

He pitches for the Pirates. The way things are going for that pitching staff, he might just be a stud...

I watched him closely in the first two innings. He topped out at 93, had a great breaking ball. Made Puig look silly on a strikeout and then got Adrian swinging after that. I'd wait a few more outings before I jump on the wagon and his numbers over the last three years in the minors weren't anything spectacular.

As with so many pitchers, it is going to be about control with him. He had it today, will he have it in his next start or the one after.
