Jacksonville Jaguars 2013 Season Outlook

So the franchise is obviously a mess.

Their "franchise" QB of the future...sucks.

Their franchise RB is coming off a Lisfranc injury and hasn't resumed sprinting at full speed yet.

Their WR's corps is filled with underachievers.

Their coaching staff doesn't seem to be willing to give any other QB a real shot at the starting job.

Lots of question marks here. Potentially great value to be had in drafts if any gems emerge.

Let's begin.

DENARD ROBINSON:

April 9th, 2013:

Michigan quarterback/wide receiver Denard Robinson has finally regained the feeling in his fingers six months after a contusion numbed his hand.

Robinson was injured in October in a game against the University of Illinois when his right arm was stepped on by an opposing player. He suffered a contusion that caused his hand to lose feeling in the pinkie and ring fingers of his hand. He re-aggravated the injury two weeks later against Nebraska and has struggled to deal with its effects ever since.

Robinson is attempting to make the conversion to receiver for his jump to the NFL. During the Senior Bowl, Robinson struggled to catch the football due to the numbness in his hands.

That numbness continued through the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine, but at the post-Combine medical re-check, he had regained feeling in his fingers. According to Rapoport, strength tests revealed he had double the strength in his hand than he did when he was examined at the NFL Combine fewer than 50 days earlier.

Robinson reportedly has no long-term nerve damage and has double the strength in his right hand than he did at the 2013 NFL Combine.

I actually thought both Blackmon and Shorts showed promise. At least as much as they could considering their QB situation combined with the fact that MoJo wasn't on the field.

Gabbert sucks and Henne is meh. Lets get the baby Rodgers hype train rolling.

Baby Rodgers had hernia surgery and won't be back on the field until at earliest, training camp.

A study done by PFF's Steve Palazzolo argues that right tackles have become just as important as left tackles in terms of pass protection. Jaguars VP of Football Technology and Analytics Tony Khan -- owner Shahid's son -- expanded PFF's study to show Blaine Gabbert was the NFL's 13th-highest rated passer among 38 qualifiers in 2012 when given 2.6 seconds or more to throw. When Gabbert had 2.5 seconds or less, he was 35th in QB rating and 34th in completion rate. The Joeckel pick remains unlikely to turn Gabbert's career around, but it could lead to more competitive quarterback play in 2013 and be of particular assistance to Jacksonville's next QB in 2014.

The Jaguars drafted a Punter in the 3rd round instead of taking Russell Wilson last season. I think that says it all.

So he didn't even have to wait to do "the stranger"?

Nice.

Ouch. That has got to hurt.

I'm just saying, when your current QB sucks and you waste a 3rd rounder on a Punter...really?

Here's the real question... How many teams have better backup QB options (or eventual backup, in the case of a QB battle in camp) than Jacksonville has in starting Gabbert?

The jags last GM was awful. He ruined that organization.

Jags went to AFC title game after 2 years of existence and somehow became this joke of a franchise.

Sad.

They need to move on from Gabbert ASAP. Design a better helmet while they are at it and focus more on the black and gold colors. That teal sucks.

Drew Stanton.

Hell, give a rookie QB a shot even.
