Lance Moore 2013 Season Outlook

112 posts in this topic

have always loved this polished route runner with sure hands. hes always been a favorite of brees as they definitely have good chemistry.

last year with graham out moore put up some nice numbers - 65 catches, 100 yards and 6 td's.. wr2 production in your #3 slot which is probably where he was drafted, if not lower.

with graham back this year does he take a step back, or can graham help get him more open? devery is gone and colston, although consistent, is a year older on those even older knees. lance is someone ill be targeting again this year at wr5 cost but with wr3+ upside. maybe not a flashy pick but I think hes a definitely a sensible one.

Graham played 15 games last year, he was just hurt and did miss some time in game, but not enough for it to be a reason Moore was targeted more. The porous defense putting Brees in must throw mode most of the game is the likeliest reason for Lance's career year (yardage wise), and Sproles missed some time giving Moore more room underneath. He seems to me to be a boom or bust wr3 to me; he has a lot of big games mixed with a lot of duds. With Graham fully healthy though along with Sproles, Moore falls to 4th in the pecking order. Not a terrible spot to be tho considering his qb. Probably looking at another year in the 60 catch 900 yard 7 td range with 3-4 wr1 type games. Imo he doesn't have much upside, but he's a solid bye-week option, so you could do worse in round 10.

All they do is throw the ball, even in garbage time. He's a good bet I think, but I wouldn't draft him as more than my first backup. But he can pass as a 3rd WR option.

I love Lance Moore. He is as safe as it gets for a guy with an ADP of 103.2.

He's currently going as the 41st WR off the board, but I definitely have him ranked higher than that.

Yeah, the guy always puts up some big games every year, but probably isn't startable every week if you only play 2 WRs. He does disappear sometimes. Also he's 5'9" and pushing 30 this year--I think his peak is around 1000yards/5-7 TDs, with a decent chance to come in lower.

Joe Morgan is probably the guy who interests me most in New Orleans right now as a late-round flyer with wild upside. There's a reason they let Devery Henderson go. Perhaps Morgan's 37.9 YPC average last year is that reason...

I like Morgan too but I don't think we can expect anyone in deverys old role, couple bombs a game, to be a reliable contributor. I'd much rather have the consist, if limited upside, of Moore as my wr3, especially with 13 games on turf where he excels

Joe Morgan out for the season, Henderson gone. Slightly bumps up Moore's (and Colston's) value perhaps?

Maybe Steve Breason take over for that WR3 role though, and Moore's/Colston's numbers don't change. Looks like the Skins could potentially cut Henderson too, in which case he could be brought back.

He's the perfect guy to draft as a reliable bye-week filler. He's not going to be a difference maker and turn into a stud, but you can pretty much count on him for somewhere between 6 and 10 pts week in and week out

Think Moore gets a bump in value with Colston's foot injury. See him as serviceable mid wr3. Thoughts?

I'd be fine with him as my WR3 regardless of Colston's health.

even if last year was his ceiling, he still holds value. He seems to be underdrafted considering how well he did last season. Colstons bad feet make him even more interesting.

I hadn't really followed him too closely, but I'm wondering if Meachem being gone last year helped him, and also Devery Henderson being gone this year shouldn't hurt either. This is probably the only situation where being the third or fourth receiving option on a team is not necessarily a bad thing. He's going in WR4 territory, seems like a good choice to pair up with a risky option at WR3 like Wallace.

I feel this guy is a steal. Here are my reasons

1. Saints defense stinks. So Saints will be in shoot outs in almost every game

2. He is an all down player

3. Colston is not 100% healthy. He wasn't last year either

4. Jimmy Graham will be heavily covered. That's my opinion not a fact

5. This guy could end up additionally getting all the Henderson/Morgan receptions

6. I see him as a sleeper TD machine

I got him in the last round of my 10 team draft if that's any indication of how down on him people are (could also be my league). The guy had 1,000 yards and 6TDs last season! I know it's not a comp, but Calvin Johnson had 5 TDs!

Brees will throw 30+ TDs. They can't all go to Jimmy Graham and Darren Sproles

I agree on every point you had about Moore... But Calvin's tds aren't relevant at all IMO. He could have had like ten if he wasn't tackled at the one yard line 10000 times.

I'm not comparing the two. I'm saying that Lance Moore has way more value than people give him credit for. He was the 23rd ranked WR in ESPN Standard leagues last season. My point was I got a guy like Lance Moore in the last round and he had more TD's than the #1 WR in the world. Fluky or not. That is a great value

I love this guy as an WR3 in 12-teamers.

I'm considering handcuffing him with Stills. Thoughts?

I agree, maybe Calvin's tds are just a sore subject for me because I had him last year and I lost out on the overall points payout in that league by a few points and Calvin fell on the one yard line too many times...

But Moore is great value. He just isn't a sexy pick so people are passing him. If he is healthy this year he will repeat last year and be a consistent contributor.
