2013 Injured Reserve Stashes

28 posts in this topic

So it's been a while since I've played in a league with an IR spot, so I forget how to handle the pre-season strategy with it. Looking for some pointers or any advice. Thanks.

There's no one on Yahoo's current IR list worth drafting in the very late rounds, but are there any guys worth picking up who are going to end up on it once PUP lists and such are announced? Also, does PUP translate to guys being put on IR as well?

The one guy who comes to mind is Percy Harvin, but who knows.

IR is only for keeper leagues. A player has to actually be on the IR. Only person I can think of off the top of my head worth stashing is Maclin.

No. They aren't on the IR.

Own DeAngelo and stashing J Stew on the IR.

On Yahoo!?

I can confirm Stewart can't be placed in an IR slot on Yahoo.

Ya, I didn't think I was crazy.

On ESPN you can place anyone on the IR if they have an "O" next to their name. This means the player doesn't have to be on the NFL IR, rather just "out" and not playing.

Last year, I had Vincent Brown on my IR all season. This year, I'm starting with Gronk and then not sure what I'll do once he is activated (save for injuries on my roster). I like the IR slot because it's basically an extra player slot. In my league we keep 20 but if you have an IR-eligible player you can keep 21.

Yea, I didn't specify that this isn't a keeper league. Sorry. In that case it would make more sense to keep guys who are out for the season. I'm working with a re-draft league and my thoughts were based more on a guy who can get stashed till later in the season.

You have to keep them on your bench though, that's all.

The re-draft league in Yahoo has an IR/DL spot that is separate from the bench spots.

I think this set-up is fairly standard.

Thus, my thought behind my initial post was in the final round or so drafting a guy who may end up on IR before the season starts and stashing him. He wouldn't count as a bench player.

Ya but it's only for players that are out for the year. It's useless in a redraft

On my CBS league it lets me put who ever I want on IR, but to open up a roster spot the commisioner has to approve it.

I'm stashing Latavius Murray. Only raider RB under contract for 2014, hoping for a Lamar Miller situation, however big a stretch that is.

Dennis Pitta also, since he's designated for return, makes perfect sense to stash him on IR for this year.

Jeremy Maclin is probably 3rd on the list with Danario Alexander 4th right now.

Is Lattimore IR eligible on Yahoo?

He got added to the NFI list, which operates exactly like the PUP list, so no he shouldn't be.

Andre Brown just added. I actually got two IR spots in one of my leagues so I figure I am gonna try and nab Brown and Pitta at this point. Still digging to see who else is eligible though.

So many different names. IR, PUP, NFI. I will admit that I don't know the difference between all of them. Why are some people on IR but they are designated to return, while some are on IR and are gone for the season? Does the team only get one player that they can designate to come back?

My Yahoo league doesn't play with an IR spot, so it makes it difficult to keep the likes of Percy Harvin, Andre Brown, and Michael Crabtree on your bench. One guy picked up Harvin and I suppose he's just going to operate with one less bench spot until he hopefully returns. I just can't do it.

Pitta and Brown are now IR eligible on Yahoo.

I just stashed both, may be helpful later in the year for depth.

Had been carrying Pitta since last week.

While I'm sure it had nothing to do with it I like to think my crazy angry fanboy email I sent to yahoo this morning factored in brown finally being added to ir
