Patrick Edwards 2013 Outlook

25 posts in this topic

Lions UDFA WR Patrick Edwards is expected to see "plenty of playing time" opposite Calvin Johnson this season.

Any receiver getting significant snaps in the Lions' pass-happy offense is worth monitoring. The Detroit Free Press notes that declining Nate Burleson is best in the slot and Ryan Broyles is also a slot receiver who has been hampered by knee issues. Edwards, who led the nation with 20 touchdown catches last season, finished his first NFL preseason with a 7/49/1 line, seeing significant first-team reps. He's a stash-and-see option for deep leaguers.

I love rotoworld threads where I click on them saying "Who the hell is this guy" and then come out of them thinking "Hmm, I might want that guy"

Worth a flier in deeper leagues. Took a look around my teams but the only league deep enough for me personally to take him I already have Calvin.

haha..so true...If all my leagues weren't 10/12 teamers with standard roster sizes, visiting rotoworld would be like stepping into Fantasy Free Agent Christmas everyday :) I might have to get into one of these deep leagues one of these days.

I have Calvin also. But if Edwards is lining up opposite Calvin at some point in the season, I'd have no problem starting both of them in the right matchup.

Is he gonna handle punt or kick off returns?

I did the exact same thing here. Now I'm between him and Patton for my last pick.

This guy was very good at Houston. VERY good. They say he doesn't have blazing speed but he was always open, and would manage to get behind the defense. I really liked him coming out of school and yes, he was that guy who broke his leg on the band cart.

Oh yeah, and that rotoworld blurb is wrong. He came out 2 years ago and was on the practice squad last year IIRC.

Hes the #2 WR in detroit offense. People roster ryan broyles whos hurt yet ignore edwards

The Lions have said they're going to bring Broyles slowly. Their OC said this week he has big plans for Broyles working the slot. I can't blame people for rostering him until he's healthy, especially in PPR leagues. I did the same in one of my PPR leagues.

Broyles is somewhat healthy so people automatically assume he's going to be the guy after Megatron

Don't forget about Bush. Lots of expectation that he will receive a lot of targets after Calvin. Then you have the pesky Nate B as well in the mix.

Burleson is the nominally #2, even if he isn't very good. There is still Pettigrew and Bush. I'd hold off and see how he does before plugging him in this week.

Added him in a deep league over Edelman. Not starting him though.

Could be a nice option though, the volume should be plenty to go around.

if you had to choose between him and Burleson who do you go with?

Close to AC stuff...but are we talking ....today....ROS...in a hot dog eating contest?

Schwartz also said Patrick Edwards is trending up from the ankle injury that kept him off the field last week.

The shark pickup for deep leaguers?

If he didn't get. A high ankle sprain in week 1 I'm guessing he'd be on more radars. Should at least get burlesons stats
