Jordan Reed 2013 Season Outlook

622 posts in this topic

I came on here and noticed there wasn't a topic yet. This guy has been getting an awfully large amount of snaps for being a rookie. What do you all think about him? I am stashing him on all my teams (1 Keeper)

Per PFF: Fred Davis has played 67 snaps vs. just 53 for Reed, BUT, of Davis' 67 snaps, 37 involved him running a route and 30 involved him staying in to block. Of Reed's 53 snaps, a whopping 46 involved him running a route vs. just 7 involving him staying in to block. Reed has 9 targets for 8 receptions, 56 yards and 1 TD. Davis has 6 targets for 3 receptions, 25 yards, and no scores.

Jordan Reed has been one of the few bright spots for the Redskins so far. IDK how much of a force he will be this year... that all depends on whether or not Fred Davis removes his head from his a** ... but long term this guy is a straight beast.

On the field, he draws comparisons to Aaron Hernandez ... similar in size and athleticism and came from the school. Not sure he will ever get the touches Hernandez did though.

Off the field, umm, he doesn't murder people?

debating to drop Celek off my bench for him, but cant pull the trigger yet. Definitely one to watch moving forward.

Has Celek been getting any looks this year? I've heard he and the Eagles see him more as a blocking tight end moving forward. Not sure what he has done though...

Sources tell the Washington Post that Fred Davis was benched after blowing several missed assignments in Sunday's loss to the Packers.

Per the Post, there "could be a changing of the guard at tight end" for the Redskins. Davis played on just 16-of-61 snaps in Week 2 while intriguing third-round rookie Jordan Reed saw 29. Through two games, Davis has a mere two catches for 25 yards on six targets and Reed an 8/56/1 line on nine targets. Reed, a strict pass-catcher in the mold of Dustin Keller or Aaron Hernandez, is a Dynasty must-own going forward. Davis will be an unrestricted free agent after this season and can't be trusted as even a TE2 in re-draft formats right now.

Pick him up now! I am just leaving him on the bench for a few weeks and see how things work out.

Fred Davis - TE - Redskins

Fred Davis (ankle) was added to the Redskins' Week 3 injury report and is listed as questionable.

Davis was a full participant in practice this week, so he must have suffered the injury Friday afternoon. His status for this week's game against the Lions is now up in the air. Davis has just two catches for 25 yards through two games and was benched in the second half last week for missing some assignments as a blocker. Bump Jordan Reed up your Week 3 tight end rankings slightly.

So, Reed is looking like he's got a chance. Better upside TE2 than the likes of Charles Clay or Brent Celek? Or are you all leaving Reed on the wire? Thoughts....

I think one of the most important stats for a TE is how many passing routes they actually run versus being used as a blocker. As often said, you don't get any points for blocking. I don't know where to easily find this information, since I think ProfootballFocus is a paid site, but if it's true that he's run a route on 46 of 53 plays, then I'm in. It says he's got a lot of potential.

Fred Davis (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's Week 3 game against the Lions.

Great news. I'm starting him in my deeper league. I expect RGIII to have to throw the ball a lot again today. Their D can't stop the Lions.

Does RG3 and Shanny throw to the tight end a lot? I think he would make a good stash prior to today's kickoff just in case he goes off so you don't have to fight through waivers if you're in need of a tight end.

I know absolutely nothing about this guy but he apparently was their third round pick so he must have some potential.

I recall Shanahan having some success in the past with a tight end named Shannon Sharpe.

Just jumped on the bandwagon. Now contemplating giving him the start instead of gamble with Vernon's GTD. I think he is at least a speculative add if you have the extra spot and need TE help.

Just announced by the sideline reporter on NFL network, apparently Logen Paulsen is the replacement for Fred Davis. Is Paulsen going to be called on to block while Reed goes in to run? Not sure if a timeshare TE situation is all that fantasy viable. The more I think about it, I think you avoid this TE carousel in its entirety.

I've read that Logan Paulsen is primarily a blocking TE.

Turns out Paulsen and Reed received about an equal number of targets yesterday.

Though the boxscore says so this was not totally true. Reed was receiving almost all the target until he left in the 2nd half. At that point the Skins were playing catch-up and Paulson benefited from that. Had Reed stayed healthy he probably would have had most of those targets.

He got a contusion injury on Sunday. Thinking of dropping Eifert for him. Any updates on his injury or outlook heading into week 4 as the Redskins TE-1?

I'm pretty sure, he is fine. I think he even wanted to play yesterday after the injury but they wouldn't let him. 5 for 50 in the first half. He was also getting a ton of targets. It felt like each pass RG3 was looking his way.

Is Fred Davis expected back? That might complicate matters. I agree that Logen only got looks because Reed was out.

Looks like hes out this weekend but I still see him taking Davis' job and being the pass-catching TE of Washington. Sleeper for sure.
