Rashad Jennings 2013 Season Outlook

365 posts in this topic

Following Sunday's loss to the Redskins, coach Dennis Allen said he didn't know how long Darren McFadden (hamstring) would be out.

McFadden pulled his hamstring in the first quarter and was quickly ruled out for the day. Then Marcel Reece sustained a knee injury that's considered more severe than DMC's pull. We're expecting Rashad Jennings to start Week 5.

Marcel Reece's knee injury is considered more serious than Darren McFadden's hamstring pull.

The Raiders did not update the status of either one of their backs following Sunday's loss to the Redskins. But given how quickly each one was ruled out for the game, we'd be stunned to see them in Week 5. Rashad Jennings rushed 15 times for 45 yards and caught eight passes for 71 yards in a relief role Sunday.

I don't think we should let Jennings performance last year completely cloud our judgement, he didn't have a mobile QB opening up holes for him, he had Gabbert turning over the ball and fumbling games away. He's a plodder but he'll be a decent to average fill in for DMC while he's out for who knows how long IMO.

Thinking about picking him up.... Just can't pull the trigger yet because of how bad he did look starting last year. Can't be worse then that though right?

Debating how much of my FAAB I want to spend on him. I only have 57 bucks left but I'm thinking about 31. As crazy as it sounds I trust him to cover my Morris bye week more than Mathews.

I hesitated on him because of this as well, and now I missed out on him and kinda regret it.

Next week at home vs the Chargers is a juicy matchup....

Beyond week 5, maybe 6 he will probably lose all his value,

but as a BYE week 5 replacement for the top tier guys like AD, Doug Martin, Morris....

I didn't see the game but apparently all his yards came in the 2nd half. Here's an article I came across after the McFadden injury first occurred:

This article originally appeared on SBNation.

"The Raiders currently trail the Washington Redskins 17-14 in the second half. McFadden was Oakland's leading rusher entering the half with 29 yards on five carries. The team will turn to Rashad Jennings in his absence, but Jennings has struggled against the Redskins so far -- he has 11 carries for 28 yards, just 2.5 yards per carry."

Probably won't burn a waiver on this guy, but if he hits free agency, I'll take a shot for free. DMC's 'short' injuries have a habit of turning into longer-term ones.

This is an absolute uninformed opinion, having not seen Oakland play much, but I have to think that with all the running by Pryor (or Flynn being a not-so-great QB), there will be plenty of checkdowns. He could have some value in PPR with the right matchups.

Ive owned McFadden 2 yrs in a row and vowed never again. His injuries do linger. The only value I'm seeing at this point for Jennings is the potential for PPR. My RB situation is about to turn very muddy so I may add him. RBs are scarce so he's definitely worth a look and especially in that abysmal offense.

I think he's worth a pick up. Just not sure how much budget to spend on him. But if DMC and Reece miss a lot of time, he's the guy there. Not many of those sitting on the WW. I would have a hard time spending $31, though.

He's a lock for 20+ touches next week... I'm going to try and snag him for bye week fill in. Esp in PPR

Picked him up and dropped Green-Ellis in one of my leagues. Anything is better than LawFirm. Jennings should start for the next 1-2 weeks and receive a fair amount of carries.

I think he's only worth a waiver claim if news about DMC and Reece both say they're out for an extended amount of time. But I don't know if we'll get that before waiver claims process.

Coach Dennis Allen called out Matt Flynn following Sunday's loss to the Redskins.

Flynn went 21-of-32 for 227 yards with one touchdown and one pick, but played far worse than those stats say. "Look," said Allen. "Matt didn't play well, and we've gotta move on. We've got to get better than that." Terrelle Pryor (concussion) should be back for Week 5. If not, the Raiders could look at starting undrafted rookie Matt McGloin.

This sounds like a mess. I think they'll need to rely on Jennings a lot next game. I'll be adding him.

According to the NFL Network, Darren McFadden has avoided a serious hamstring injury.

Per Ian Rapoport, "we'll see" about McFadden's status for Week 5. That suggests DMC sustained a mere Grade 1 pull of his hammy on Sunday. Still, McFadden's history of healing slowly from a variety of injuries doesn't bode well. With Marcel Reece (knee) almost certainly out, Rashad Jennings is going to be a priority waiver add this week with the Chargers' weak defense on deck. The Raiders bye looms in Week 7.

Just to add in.

Is he worth the #1 waiver for a DMC owner in .5 PPR?

McFadden will play this up coming week.People act like he broke his leg or something in here.If you paid attention to the game he was close to coming back in the game.

He was on the sideline trying to massage his hamstring and come back in the game. There is a chance he wanted to come back in but he was held out so this wouldn't be a multi-week injury.

I think he'll be listed as questionable but will suit up this Sunday.

That's just my opinion.

Even if McFadden were to come back next week, we're trying to discuss if Jennings has enough value to add? It seems the kid can catch and PPR leagues may want to think about an add. He may not start but McFadden is injury prone and Jennings could potentially see some action. Possibly a flex play. The wire for many is filled with RB scraps and any sign of life in that pile is going to generate buzz and speculation.

In my opinion, unless you are in dire straits at RB and have nobody else to play, he is not worth burning a #1 waiver claim if he's just going to be a one week add. Of course, every league's waivers work differently.

Thinking about adding him because I don't want to play Daryl Richardson this week and don't really have available backups to play.
